We had the electric awning extended for a few days and one evening/night we had a shower. Parked under a blooming palm tree resulted in very small 'flowers' and some tiny black debris from the tree on the awning along with a small pool of water. This debris became wet and was sticking to the awning as the pool of water dried. We managed to push up on the awning to dump enough water to get the awning to retract. As it rolled up, this debris would not fall off, but stayed stuck and was rolled up in the awning.
With my old manual awning, that we liked much better, we simply dropped it as low as it would go and hosed it off - brushing with a soft long-handled brush to knock off anything that was stuck. Now I cannot reach the top and it sticks nearly straight out when deployed. Do I get a tall step ladder and and long brush and squirt/brush the debris off, or is there a way to lower the thing while it is still fully deployed?

This is an 08 Damon Essence.
