in motion satellite

Hi all, GTS here I want to install an in motion satelite on the outlaw, the dealer says it needs a wedge under it to keep it level because our roofs are not flat. Is this true i see them all the time and i know ive seen them on outlaw's. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know Thanks Tony

Mine is mounted in the center of the roof right behind the front cap. There is no wedge so yes it is slightly tilted but seems to work just fine.

Hey Tony!

In motion is VERY COOL!!! I have shopped for in-motion systems and read that the dome must be as level as possible because it's tracking system is moving the dish based on programming that says the SAT is at a fixed elevation from your location that only changes very slowly as you drive.

While driving, changes in the azimuth and angle of the dish are countered by the active tracking system based on accelerometers in the dome. But, if the dome is low in front/high in back - as your RV turns, to the dome, the SAT would seem to change elevation in the sky.

I know even my current roof-top crank-up (mounted on the angled roof above the doghouse) has a wedge so that the built-in elevation gauge is accurate in all 360 degrees of rotation.

Best of luck

I agree that completely level is best but mine - on dish network - seems to track very well. After we did the test we actually never use it when moving just turn it on when we park. We don't have kids around anymore so no need to entertain them. Just an FYI - it does make a good bit of noise when searching as the stepper motors turn the roof into a drum.
