This was generally conceded to be caused by lack of air flow across the manifolds. Different people had fixes for this problem but in the Tiffin units, a vertical baffle was mounted on the frame along side the manifold forcing a flow of air back over the manifold. So far as I know, that cured the warping of the exhaust manifold.
Hope this helps

Yes, probably due to the lack of airflow over the engine also made them run hotter.
I had 2 coaches with the 454 as well, One 30 ft class A and a 32 foot class A. Both served me well, the first one for 11 years and only failed twice in 11 years. The first was due to a faulty radiator cap that caused the end tank to blow off the Radiator. The second was a rear seal leak on the tranny that caused loss of fluid.
The 32 footer had absolutely no problems over the 5 or so years that I owned it.
I now own a '07 wide bodied 34 footer with a Ford V-10 and it is the first Ford I have owned and love it.
Nearly every time these units left the house, I also had a horse trailer on behind. Usually with 2 horses a couple of times with more.
