Hey hi everyone, hope you are all having fun. I feel like a dummy but this MH had no manuals with it when I bought it.
* So it would be helpful if you could tell me the description and use of all the dash switches to start with.
*How can or where do you check the brake fluid?
* How do you change the air filter with only half the housing exposed?
* Where can you buy the original basement door latches or parts for them?
* Where can I get manuals or copies of these manuals ?

Damon does not seem to be interested in older units they built.

HELP & THANKS

Binderme,

It helps if you tell us which chassis it is on.

As for the brake fluid the master cylinder should be under the hood on the firewall on the driver's side. You will see the metal brake lines going to it. Will have a clear or white plastic reservoir on the top with Min and Max marks on the side.

I have had good luck finding parts at this web site www.rvpartsoutlet.com. May tell you the security certificate is wrong but if you accept it it will let you go to the site and I have never had any problems with the site.

My 2009 Challenger came with no manual. I contacted Damon Customer Service through their web site and they emailed me a 95 page manual in PDF format.

Hi Becky Fisher,
Thank you for responding I was not sure if this request of mine would be even looked at since my unit is 14 years of age.

Hi Greg I,
Thank you for responding, I did not realize that my info from my profile for this unit was not showing on this forum.
Here it goes, I have a 1995 Intruder 357B on a Ford chassis with a 460 motor/ w headers and an E40D trans.
I like the info for parts as I have been searching for a more detailed parts source.
And I will call Damon directly to get any manuals they may br willing to share with me on PDF.
It is very encouraging to have all of you Damon owners care enough to help each other like this.

Richard & Cecile, Welcome to the forum. The age of your RV should not make a difference here. It may just take a while for someone knowledgeable about your particular RV to read your post and answer you. You may be able to find manuals by Google-ing. Good luck, John H...

Well.. At least you are in the right STATE!!!!!!

As for the dash switches, If you give me a list or a photo graph I can likely list 'em for you and explain 'em (I drive a 2005 Intruder after all)

And if you tell me a bit more I may be able to answer your other quesitons

If you feel like driving it down to Detroit, I'm here till 4/15/2009 then I'll be moving about a bit,, A phone call (Private me for number) and I can tell you where I"m at but the tenative list of parking spots is:

St. Clair Michigan, Private campground Wattles and I-94 (Thousand Trails)
Davision Michigan (East of flint) Michigan Outdoor Adventures campground
Taylor Michigan: Moose lodge
Hale (East of West branch) Private camp ground (one weekend only)
West Branch area Michigan outdoor adventure and moose lodge Total time in West branch area will be five weeks if things go as planned.

September Leaving state for winter

At least.. That's the plan.

But I need to see the dash to tell what the switches are unless they are labled

If you have remote controlled mirrors (I do) and there is an unlabeled switch next to the mirror control That is the mirror heater.

ICC is the "Blink the marker light" button (To thank someone for signaling you to pull back into the right lane) Only works when you have the lights on.

AUX-START is for "jump starting" the engine using the house batteries, Works well and may work both ways for starting the generator.

NOTE: Run your generator 1/2 hour under 1/2 load every month

Other switches are either labled well or I need to see 'em

You should write or contact Damon atwww.damonrv.com/ and ask them if they can send you a manual.

As for the stuff in the motor home.. Television, Radio, Microwave, Fridge, Furnace, Water heater, converter and such.. Visit the manufacturer's web sites and download the proper manuals from the customer support link

Thanks a lot John H and John-D,
I have written to Damon for manuals on pdf. I am so glad to hear all your info you have given me so far as you may know it can be frustrating trying to guess how everything functions or how they should be operated.
So far I am in the process of replacing all the batteries, as they froze over the winter. I am aware that they should have been taken out but I bought this unit in Birch Run Michigan this winter and I knew that the batteries were old so I left them.
I need to fix or replace the trans. coolant hoses at the cooler .
The engine to dash heater housing needs to be replaced but I can't get at or see half of the mounting screws as they are behind the permanent front face of the motorhome.
Other than that it will need the spring time tune up of cleaning the water system and oil changes to the motor and generator.
I really appreciate any suggestion from anyone. And as I told my wife this is the reason I purchased this motorhome , to meet all you nice people here and in living color some day.
Thank you very much!

You actually bought your coach about 30 miles from my house. I bought mine from their Brownstown(south of detroit) campus. I have had it serviced in Birch Run, but they treat me some what like a [moderator edit] stepson. The reason I bought at Brownstown is we were at my daughter's minding her horses when she got a flyer for Damon Days so we went to look and got our (not so)free digital camera.

Welcome and remember the only silly question is the one left un-asked.

Well we sort of did things a little different to them we brought them a couple of dozen Butter Tarts that my wife makes for the staff knowing that most of those ppl had never had them before. ( a Canadian treat ) But I was impressed with General RV thay have quite a nice shop and staff.

I would like to officially thank " HamDave KD8W " for all the help, advice and a copy of the manual that I was looking for. I have never met Dave but if he is any indication of what all Damon owners are like then this is the top group of all.
Thank You sovery much Dave.

Damon is not big on PDF files

Ok i will give you the switch description on my damon Intruder, it's a workhorse Note this is from memory don't have the dash in front of me

ICC - Flashes the marker lights to thank somone for flashing you over, only works if marker lights are on
Aisle lights: just what you thing, the low level "Theater aisle" lights, 3-way switch with another elsewhere in rig
"Fan" 3 position, operates defrost fan high/low/off
AUX START: connects house battery to chassis battery for a built in jump start
Generator 3-position center off spring loaded, Press bottom to stop generator To start press and hold bottom till it lights, then press top till it starts, NOTE on mine it works better if you press & release, wait a couple seconds and press again on the top Tomorror is the day I do this

Grade brake (Only if you have an allision transmission) Grade brake is a feature of Allison that changes how it shifts Turn on grade brake and then when you start down the hill you press the brakes and if it can do so safely it will downshift, it will not upshift till you touch the gas (Gasser)

O/D Over drive

Unmarked switch near mirror remote control: Mirror heater

I think that's it.. Oh, there is a FOG LIGHT switch, but you know what that does.

I don't know how young I am (I usually tell the internet I'm 59, but that, though very close, is not true. .This is to avoid identity thieft by the way)

That would, however, be my "Age bracket" (55-65)

However my annual alcohol consumption would perhaps = one glass of wine
