Leveling system died?

Started with one jack not holding more than overnight late last summer. No big deal, get it fixed on spring service routine. During winter in RGV leaks developed in one hose, actually could see blisters on hose. Then one of the buttons on the control panel came off! AND THE last gasping breath-on way to CW Katy, TX for sevice, with fortyfive or so miles to go jacks down alarm went off. Found level place to stop and all jacks looked ok. Had to finish trip with alarm going off every minute or so and worrying about a jack dropping. RIP.

If you have a HWH System when is last time the fluid level was checked?
What did CW find wrong?

In the Lippert system, there is a pressure switch. I have a similar problem. when raising the jacks, the computer knows the jacks are retracted by use of pressure differential, in other words, when the jacks are fully retracted, a pressure switch flips and tells the controller the jacks are retracted. If this switch does not flip, the controller "Thinks" the jacks are down, when in fact they are not. There could be several reasons why, but here are the most obvious items to check first:
1. Fluid level (remember to check the fluid only with the jacks fully retracted).
2. Obvious sings of leaking (could cause a pressure loss over time).
3. Bubbling or leaking hoses or fittings around the pump.
4. Bad pressure switch
5. Bad controller board
6. Bad pump.

You can still use the jacks, however, they must be used in manual mode only, and you must pull the fuse for the pump motor once the jacks are retracted, otherwise it will keep running and the alarm will continue to go off.

Good Luck with it...

Bill

Redapple: Thanks for the technical info. I am always amazed by RV systems. Seems like I learn something new every day. RV currently in shop waiting on new hose, new controller and one jack. Hope to get her back this week.
