I checked before if my fridge was involved in the recall and Dometics' website said my model was not affected.
Obviously they changed their mind as I got a letter from Damon today.
Has anybody had this done? Is it a "while you wait" thing or a drop it off and "wait for us to call and say it's ready to pick up" thing?
Looks like most of the '04,'05 and '06 Damons and 6 different Dometic models are on the list.

We called our local dealer, they made an appointment and it took them about 15 minutes to fix while we waited.

Jaybird1946, Our MH is outside, winterized and covered. I just got in from checking the fridge and it too is now on their list. Won't be able to take care of this until spring or later. Is the fix something that we can fix ourselves with a part if it only takes 15 min? Thanks, John H....

I also got a Dometic recall last summer for a baffle in the refrigerator bay. This is in addition to the summer recall from what I am told. This recall is to replace the burner tube and two fuses. It's best to check with your dealer. Fires arn't pretty.
Just an IRV2 freind thought.

John H, don't think you want to do the repair yourself since it's free and less hastle. I like to do repairs myself, too, but too much to loose if something goes wrong. AND did I say it's free!

Jaybird1946,Thanks for the response. I understand that it is free, but my closest dealer is about 50 miles away and I couldn't have it done until late spring. So, it wouldn't be as "free" as having the parts sent to me if it's not too hard a fix. John H....

I just got off the phone with a dealer who told me to just call back in the spring when I'm ready to have the recall done. It is something that you can't do yourself because of the liability involved. It is a safety issue and will be taken care of anytime. John H....

When mine was done at the shop the owner told me he makes house calls and does the Dometic repairs in the owner's yard or campground evenings and weekends. It is little advertised but Dometic does pay dealers extra $ in the case of difficult to move RVs--set-up park models for instance. Dometic doesn't know which RVs are mobile or not. He hinted that Dometic pays an hour's labor for the 15 minute installation. What's that come to? $95.00 at alot of shops.

John, somehow I think 50 miles may be a little far but worth checking into if you've been a good customer.

We got the letter yesterday, but our model wasn't listed. We have a daybreak 3276. Was this listed on anyone else's list. I noticed 3272 was listed twice.

turtle2468, you are correct, 3272 was listed twice, but check the model # of your fridge and the serial #. Expo, I found another dealer who does the fix who is only about 30 miles away and it will cost me less than their hourly charge to Dometic to go there. I'm OK with that. John H....

Mine was'nt listed a year ago either. 2 different Dometic repairmen told me they are all being recalled but they don't want them all coming in at once. You'll make next years recall.
The funny thing is that when you finally get your notice, it will say to definitly not use you fridge , especially on gas as it can burst a line and start a fire. But they still wait so everybody's not coming in at once.
They change no lines, but they do put a shield in , looks like it would help keep the fire away from louvered outside cover on your fridge.
I have'nt tried mine since I had the recall done, but a couple of people, at least, (from the WH site) said their fridge did'nt work as well after the recall.
