I finally quit looking and bought my first motorhome last week. A 1996 Damon Ultrasport 3520. We are going camping tomorrow for the first time. I will let you know how we make out. Totally new to RV camping. Have to learn about hook-ups,generators and all that fun stuff. Can't wait. Love to drive it. My first trip is going to include a ferry ride from Canada to the US. Nervous, but excited too!

Mike,

Enjoy your new rig. I am on my 4th MH, but my 3 class "A", and my first new MH. Before MHs I had 2 different P-up campers.

I have been RVing since 1982. Youngest was a baby when I got my first MH a Class "C". With 26 years of RVing and pulling a horse trailer I have a lot of stories.

The first rig I had the class "C" one hot and humid day. The MH wasn't running right and I limped home and was 2 miles from home when a deer jumped out in front of me. Fortunately for the deer I was already in the process of slowing down to make a left turn.
But I actually got so close that I could no longer see his haunches and could hear his feet on the pavement.
I told the DW that I wouldn't be suprised to find tail hair in the grill when we got home. At the last second he darted left and nearly got nailed by a car comming from the other direction. He made it though.

Mike, we got our first MH last year. We were also "newbies", having never done any type of camping before.

At first we felt "overwhelmed", but very soon after felt comfortable.
We found the people we met have been very nice and very helpful if you mention you are new to it.

We love it, and I'm sure you will too!
Lots of experiences to remember.

Enjoy and safe travels,
please post after you get home to let us know how it went.
Sue

Mike. Congrats on the leap and have a safe trip. You'll figure things out quicker than you imagine and if you don't there are a lot of campers who will help you out if you just ask. John H....

Wellll, The ferry approach involved a joggle to the right and I didn't notice a bent post and a dip in the road. Result- Lost that pretty door handle with Damon written on it. My wife almost took a header, She went out to see what the noise was and grabbed for a door handle that wasn't there anymore. Easily fixed but very humbling as a driver. Everything else was perfect all weekend though, so for a first effort not too bad.
