Has anyone stayed at Apache Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC??
I have stayed at Pirateland, but they are full, as is Ocean Lakes. Can make reservations at Lakewood, but they have some restictions. No alcohol permitted in campground, for one. Apache sounds alright and is still on the Ocean. Thanks, John H...

If you need the beach and close to the action I can't help you, but in Longs SC is Willow Tree and it is very nice and almost brand new. It gets 10 and 9s on RV Park Reviews. It is about 20-30 minutes out side Myrtle Beach.

If you want the south end try Myrtle Beach KOA, 5th street south off Kings Highway 1 1/2 blocks from the ocean, not as confined as Apache and MBTP
A hint to Ocean Lakes, keep calling they get cancellations all the time you might get lucky.
Can you be more specific about dates, that means alot in the resort area.

I can certainly recommend Myrtle Beach Travel Park. They have sites on/near the ocean and a nice beach. They have a great little restaurant on the beach. It will put you near the Myrtle Beach shows like Carolina Opry and the Alabama Theater but farther north than the other RV parks. There is a Walmart and one of the Tanger Outlet malls within 1/2 mile.
We stayed at Apache once...that was enough for us. It was crude with sites really close. The only positive about Apache was the fishing pier so if you are into fishing, you might like it.

We can confirm the small sites at Apache. If you have anything close to 40 ft you should take some of the advice above. Otherwise, for access to the beach and pier, it's not that bad.

I've stayed at Lakewood several times and although they advertise several restrictions, they are not as strict as the restrictions seem to be. If the restrictions are enforced it is only for those who blatantly abuse them. I enjoy a beer when I come back from the beach sometimes more than one, and I've never been bothered by anyone crusing around looking to kick someone out. If you behave like you would expect others to behave then you'll enjoy a nice stay. The sites are smaller than OceanLakes.

Thanks all. Time is getting short, so we made reservations at Lakewood. All others are filled. I will just have to be inteligent and use common sense with the alcohol. Thanks for your input tomgagne, it helped me make the decision. What made it difficult to find a place is that we will be there the last week of July. I guess a popular vacation time. Again thanks to all for the quick responses. John H...

we have stayed many times in Lakewood campground and had many happy hrs. I believe the restriction of drink is to make sure it doesnt get out of hand.

I would try Myrtle Beach Travel Park which is about 4 condo complexes north of Apache. When I made my reservation back about 3 months ago, June was filled, and July & August were filling up fast. MBTP is much more low key than the large CG's south of MB. I have rode my bike thru Apache and was not very impressed. Have stayed at MBTP 4-5 times....

Agreed , Willow Tree is a great campground best I have been to. We have stayed at Ocean Lakes , Pirate Land and Lake Wood for years and Willow Tree is now our 1st choice when making camping plans... Its located about 8 miles from North MB hwy 17. I cant say enough good things about it... check it out some time. The sites are absolutley HUGE and are completely paved and some sites have Hot Tubs..

Mike, although we like to be at the beach, I will check out Willow Tree when we are down there. Thanks

We've stayed at Willowtree for the past years in April and loved it. It's quiet (very quiet), but the sites are large, bathrooms rate a A+, it's off the beaten track, but a place to recharge - fishing on a lake, trails in the woods, outside pool and hot tub, and of course the signature sites (which we've never rented). Not sure how crowded it is
in the summertime.
