Mystery compressor...

Hey y'all. We have a 2002 Intruder 350. W22, 8.1, Allison, usual load out. My question is this: There is an onboard air compressor. I have no earthly idea what it is for. It fills each time I start the coach, but it's purpose is unknown to me. The coach is not air brake and the horns are electric, not air.

Does anyone have any idea what purpose it serves? Its way to small to inflate tires with and I don't see any air quick connects anywhere, just LPG. It's not hurting anything, I just don't know why its there!!

Could it be a vacuum pump?

I have a Roadmaster Brakemaster 9000 in mine. There is a compressor in one of the bays that starts up when the coach is started. It is an air over hydraulic tow vehicle braking system. There is a air quick connect on the rear near the towing hitch. Mine has a rubber cap on the quick connect to keep dirt out when it is not in use.

Yep, that's my guess too.

UPDATE!!!

The Brakemaster is exactly what it is!! Thanks!!

Now that opens an entire new can of worms for me. I don't likely have existing wiring for electric trailer brakes do I? It has the 6 pin connector and the air valve you spoke of. Will I have to run an entire new harness to get electric brakes run off a controller out there?

Side thought...

Does anyone know if by chance the 2002 Workhorse W22 chassis has a pre wired plug for an electric brake controller? I'm guessing not but someone out there knows a LOT more about this than I do LOL. I just SO do not want to run an entire new plug and wiring harness if I can avoid it!!!

I'm sorry, I can help with that question.

That's ok and thanks for replying. The more I look at it the more sure I am it's going to be a completely separate deal. At least now I know what I'm working with!!
