I am looking at buying an '07 Damon Daybreak. Very low miles (<9,000). Seems to be in good condition inside and out. This is our first motorhome purchase. It's from a dealer (Camping World, San Antonio). Other than leak test, compression test on engine and systems checks are there other tests recommended for rookies?
Thanks so much for your help.

Have them demonstrate all of the systems....water, generator, power, propane, check all lights. Look for signs of leaks, up on the roof, look for good sealant at all joints. Check the tires and brakes.
I would hire an independent RV tech to check the unit and not depend on the seller to do it properly.
Any abnormal tire wear would indicate the need of a front suspension/alignment check.
I would also get them to change all oils and fluids on the engine and generator.

Did you mean Camping World New Braunfels? If so, go talk to JD the manager in Parts/Warranty area and ask him to do a walk through with you to explain the systems and justify why things shouldn't be replaced or inspected as noted above by the others. He can be short, but there is no question he will give you an objective answer. (At least he did with me and at least 2 others I know of). Hope that helps.

Welcome to the forum. Check everything to make sure they work. Also take it for a test drive. Good luck.

Amen on the batteries. We Failed to have ours replaced on purchase and think we are getting ready to pay the price for not doing so.

As important as the batteries is the charging system. If it has the The Inteli-Power converter then ask if it has the Charge wizard.
Without the charge wizard, the charger will continue to charge the batteries as long as it is plugged into shore power, even if they are fully charged. But the Charge wizard will drop the charge to a maintenance level when the batteries are full. Otherwise you will have to keep adding water to the batteries.
I ran mine low a couple of times before I figured it out. Luckily I didn't damage the batteries.
