Greetings, Two weeks ago we purchased our first coach, a 2010 Tuscany 4072 with the 425hp Cummins. We are scheduled to pick it up from the dealer in May. Any advice for the PDI and things we should pay close attention to as we go through the coach familiarization?

Thanks in advance, Sloth

Welcome
I bought a 2010 Tuscany 4078 in Sept. So far I am happy with the coach but there were a few problems.I would take the list of every thing the MH has and make them demo all and make sure you have all the remotes.I have the 360 HP so you should have plenty of power. We leave tomorrow for a week at Palm Desert and are looking forward to a good time like we always have had in our other 5 motor homes.
Good Luck
Larry

do a detailed PDI
pressurize all lines and check for leaks
other than dumb little things we are happy with ours

take out every drawer when you get it home and vacuum up all the left over screws and wire ties

i like to tinker and make better so i have a 40 foot rolling lab so to speak

we found a few OMG why did they do it this way and a bunch of WOW that was smart

congrats on the new rig

I agree with what everyone has offfered. , We love our coach but like everyone else we've had our issues. Our most frustrating issue is the water system. Have had to replace virtually every connection. I think that is Damons weak point. Also if your rig has been on the lot long, make them put in new batteries. Especially the house set. We have had ours just 15 months and having to replace house batteries. Soon after the warranty ran out obviously.

Would also advise you not to be afraid to change to another Damon service center other than here you purchased the coach. We had to do that (with the advice and assistance of Damon) to get our warranty issues resolved

Again, have fun and enjoy. We are sure satisfied wiith our Damon purchase decision.

Congratulations on your new coach and welcome to the Thor/Damon family. We recently purchased a 2004 Damon Escaper 4076 and love it.

When you go get it, plan for a couple of hours to go over everything, start everything, and try everything. Make sure you understand the dump procedures, setup sequence as in what comes first, jacks or slides. Make sure you understand how to operate all electical appliances, TV's (where are the external connections). Don't have the sales/tech show you instead have them teach you, take notes, you do it...

Good luck.

If you travel very far (figure close to $1 per mile) to the dealer, you might want to stay on their lot or close by a night or two just to check out all the systems, water, awnings, battery systems, leveling, tvs, surround sound, antennas, no matter how much anyone PDI's it, their seems to be things on new coaches that get overlooked. Talking from experience. We moved up from a like coach but still had a lot of questions and repairs to be made before we took it home...400 miles.

BTW...congrats on your new purchase!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the input. Sounds like the water system deserves a full run through to identify any potential issues before we leave the dealer. Since we bought the caoch at lazy days, they have you stay for a couple nights at their CG to check out all the systems in order to have any repairs done on the spot. I am concerned about Lazy Days repair facilities as i have read that they have not performed well since the change in management. Should i be worried or does anyone out there have information to refute these claims? Thanks again for the posts.

Stay away from Lazy Days. Several friends have had coaches in there with bad results. We bought our coach in St. Augustine at Camping World (im me for who to speak with down there) and have had wonderful service there on our coach. You'll love Damon and the coach. We certainly love ours and would not hesitate to buy another one.

We now live in ours full time now and still love the coach. Would love the 425 hp engine though. The Cat C7 in mine is great but who doesn't want extra horsepower

Spend the time to go through the coach. Check all the systems thoroughly and make your list. Someone has a PDI list you can print out and take with you. It will make the dealer mad but it's your money ultimately.

And do not hesitate to call Thor Motorized Services (again, just post and several of us have direct numbers to a couple of really good folks there) if you are having a hard time. Or even if you just have general questions. They are really good.

Sean and Eddie, Thanks for the post. i do plan on spending as much time a required to go through the inspection (I hope they are prepared). This will be Lazy days first attempt for their service team to leave an impression. That being said...I am not expecting much. Glad to hear St. Augustine has a good service center as it is much closer to the home. My wife and I will also be spending the first few months in the CG as we wait to see we wait to see where the navy sends us next. Those first few months will really allow us to work out any kinks that may need to be staightened out.

Where in Jacksonville are you going to be staying? We live at Flamingo Lake on the Northside. We like it a lot.

You'll learn a lot about the coach and what you really need when you live in it full time. It's a change in perspective for sure....

We will be staying at the CG on NS Mayport...They have two, one that looks out over the St Johns River and the other one is tucked in at the back of the base where they alow extended stays. I did check Flamingo lakes out as a possibility incase the base was full, looks like a nice place to stay.
