No one wants to see their Damon like this!

Other than a semi crossing into your lane for a head-on nothing is as stomach-in-your-throat as is when you discover your oil pressure gauge sitting at zero while you're hammering along the highway.

Holy Cow...how long has THAT been going-on?

I couldn't bring that 20 ton rig to a stop fast enough.

After sitting 90 mins for a $375 heavy-rig tow 10 miles to a shop it was discovered the oil pressure gauge sending unit...on the back of the Chevy 454 jus' above the tranny had internally opened-up and was spewing oil over the transmission and wind was blowing that onto the exhaust headers. No big reason for me to go into spontaneous nuclear fission as the engine still had pressure. I could only imagine the $8 to $10 large it would cost to replace the engine. It would make more sense to pour gas inside and walk away for the insurance.

We cooled our heels on the back lawn of the truck repair center in Avoca, IA in the rain for the next 20 hours...what incredible fun that was.

$142 for the parts and labor. I coulda' done it at home for $15 if I'd known it was gonna blow...but the repair people were very nice and accommodating. Marcus Lemonis paid the tow invoice.

Now we're 165 miles further down the road...pulled-over for the evening jus' outside Grand Island, NE...driving into a 90 degree sun looking thru a movie screen sized windshield is not our idea of a good time.

The rest of out 4500 mile trip will be uneventful as far as emergencies are concerned...we have that outta the way now.
