My wife and I decided that since we've been using the RV almost every other weekend as well as a couple of week long trips throughout the year that we would try to make it a little more like home. I've already added a few things that have made our Outlaw more enjoyable like the cables to make the ramp into a deck. This time I swapped out the 26" TV for a 42" LED Flat screen. The current installation has the TV recessed into the wall to allow the slide to bypass it when retracted. That still gave me 5" to work with without having to recess the new unit. I came up with a design that utilized the pocket to attach mounting plates for the custom made back plate that attaches to the back of the TV. I'm really happy with the way it came out as well as the strength of the mount as well as the addition of rubber mounts to help protect it from over the road jarring. When Poopsie is happy, I'm happy!

All we need is Love and a big A$$ TV!

Man that is SWEET. And your timing is perfect as I have a flat screen sitting in the back just waiting for time to do the same installation. I'm shamelessly stealing your ideas so thanks for setting the standard.

If you have a fabricator down your way I'd be glad to send you detailed drawings as well as DXF files if they have a laser to cut them out. That could save you a lot of money.

The only difference would be the mounting pattern for the TV, mine was 400mm on center for M8 threaded holes, and the location of the plugs on the back mine are on the left as to look at the front of the TV.

The way I have it, the black wooden beauty ring comes off to allow for an extra 1/2" of clearance. I can pull the new TV and replace the old one without ever having known it was there as that wood will cover any marks made by the new mount.

Let me know if I can help.

Don, I really tried to make out the detail on your CAD posting last night to figure out that mounting bracket - but I have to admit I came away with questions. (Best I could come up with as a guess appear to be 2 enlongated "U" shaped braces on top and bottomn and a custom mount that slides or bolts directly to the 400 mm offsets)so - "yes" to sending the drawing or files if you're willing to do so. I'd be most appreciative. Myself and one other character here have OutLaws and we seem to be echoing each other on upgrades all the time. I know he has a 42" flatscreen project as well, and better yet, he has access to a machine shop that does custom work on order. I'm at BpK9Miami@aol.com for private comm's. Thanks, and I'm glad you had fun on that Keys trip - I think we missed each other down there by 10 days or so. Maybe next time!

I emailed you the file set. If you want the flat pattern DXF I can generate those on Monday and shoot them out to you.

Don, thanks for the drawings and details. I'll post or send you photos as I progress with the modification.

I have a flat pattern PDF as well as two DXF files for you. Click on the image and that will prompt the download of "sheetmetal.zip" which contains the three files. If your friend has a laser or turret punch he can use those. The only modifications would be the hole pattern for your flat screen and the access opening for your power and AV inputs. The new PDF has a flat pattern that details all of the mounting and forming information as well as what I came up with for the horizontal and vertical offsets from the recess cutout in the wall.

Nice job! Did the same thing with our Mid-Engine Allstar which had 4 inches of room. Used a LED TV so no need to recess the mount.

Only had room for a 32" but was able to mount a 37" outside.

And a 32" up front.

Hey Don,

Yes, we've enjoyed our Outlaw quite a bit. Amazingly, it was hit by a rock slide while we were doing 50+ on the highway. No one hurt, rig took massive superficial damage - 97% covered by insurance (Allstate was very fair). Was in shop 9 weeks. I'm still in semi shock mode and will post up some time later...

Glad you're doing well.

Wow... how many people can say they were hit by a rock slide and survived? One for the record books!

I'm glad to heat you made it out ok and the rig was brought back to life.

Don, finally got around to following your example on upgrading the TV. I couldn't find a machine shop in the area I trusted enough to follow your plans, so I downgraded to a straight-forward swing mount arrangement. I also decided to upgrade both the wall TV and the one over the doorway at the same time. I'll mount the removed 32" from the wall to the outside location just in time for ball season! I went with the LG series, 42" on the wall, and LG 32" above the entry door. To top it off, I added an LG sound bar with wireless sub-woofer. The sound bar is mounted under the 42" with the SW behind the passenger seat! I'm now totally spoiled!

Thanks for all your help.
