PITA stuff

We love our 2011 Astoria 3772 but after 3 years she's starting to show some wear. She should be a 2010 but IN titled her as a 2011. There isn't much solid wood in these rigs and that's where most of my problems are. I'm hoping that someone else has experienced the same as me and can offer some helpful suggestions.
1. The doors on the washing machine compartment in the bedroom have come loose and fallen off. The rails that the screws are in are just compressed paper mache and although I have inserted plugs in the holes it isn't a very satisfactory fix. I'm thinking about drilling out the screw hole and inserting a dowel and then re-drilling it for the one screw that holds the hinge. I suggested a curtain wire and an old sheet but the co-pilot went ballistic.

2. The vertical fascia on the slide-out end has separated from the aluminum frame that it is brad nailed to. I know it's my fault for torquing up the brace bars too tight but I had one fall out behind me doing 60mpg. Has anyone experienced this and how did they re-attach the wood fascia to the aluminum.

Look forward to some constructive ideas
