Anyone know what brand and model the B/W, nightvision rearview camera system that Damon installed on 2007 and 08 models? I think my camera is getting ready to go, keeps flickering out.

Ours was a Jensen system, but had so many problems that we replaced the entire system. Now have Sony color cameras. Still not happy with the new system camera display quality as compared to the OEM system that was installed in my 2009 GMC 3500. New system was purchased from RVNavigation.com. and I believe it is vastly overated, but is better than the original Jensen system.

I have an 08 Damon Outlaw. I did not like the B&W fixed lens and moved it to inside the garage to view my Harley.
I put in a color camera system w/large monitor made by Total Vision. www.totalvisionproducts.com Their cameras are made for the riggers of vehicles. My rear camera tilts up and down and pans left to right with a 180 degree view. I have side vision cameras in my mirrors, 2 cameras on front nose to view the corners and one between my seats as an interior rear view mirror. All Camera lenses are not alike. They come wide angle, true and mirror image, standard and wide angle, fixed and movable, and in all sizes.
For me, I justify the cost of cameras against the cost of body repairs, insurance deductibles, loss time for repairs, aggravation, and bad memories.

The rear view monitor consists of basically 3 "modules" the camera, which runs on battery power, the cables, and the Monitor.

The monitor will work with most any camera, it is a standard NTSC monitor, will work with a regular video camera, it will even play back VCR video, the only special thing about it is the connector under the dash and with a sharp knife, a bit of logic and a soldering iron, that can be ... changed (I know)

The camera has ONE special feature, and all "rear view" cameras have this same feature.. It can be switched to scan right to left instead of left to right (Mirror the image) (In some cases it can be switched, in other cases it's hard wired that way) And all rear view cameras have this feature as well, they either are hard wired or can be set to scan "mirror" mode.

ON my Gasser, since it's a long way from the front seat, a long way to gas cap, It's along way to the gas cap to line up on the pump, (ok enough song for one post)

I mounted a common "Bolt" type camera (The camera body is a bolt, with nut) in the same panel as the gas cap.. It's a common NTSC color camera. Spliced it into the "B" input (See knife/soldering iron) and now when I switch from camera A to camera B... When the pump is in the center of the screen.. I'm centered on the pump for re-filling the gas tank. AND IT IS IN COLOR.

The monitor is that standard.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Before I go any further I need to get my lazy butt up a ladder and check out the camera / connections on the rear of the MH. I've thought about upgrading to a color system at some point and if this one actually fails I likely would but for now, just want it to work for our spring trip next week.

My 08 Damon Astoria has an "Atlanta DTH" model 700. Looking at a lot of the Damon brochures for the 08 year I see a most look like my system.

Has any one converted from black and white to the color systems? I've been thinking of doing that also. I wonder if the wires from the rear camera to the dash are the same or need to be changed. Does anyone know how difficult it is to pull new wires if required?

My replacement Sony color system required rewiring. I had it installed at a local electronics shop, and they ran new cable from the camera to the receiver up front. It mostly followed the frame wiring bundle. The installer used the shielding off the old black and white system cabling and I could follow the new zip ties. I had to find some spare cable when the new rear camera failed and was replaced by warranty, and was able to trace the cable fairly easily. Based on this I would not be afraid to run new cable if required. Fairly straight forward process and most areas are easily accessable.

In my 07 DayBreak it is an Atlanta DTH.
I am having difficulty running the new cable for a new color camera system with RCA connectors to the front of the rig. Does anyone know how this is routed? Right now I am stumped as to how it routes out of the back cap.

The cameras are actually interchangable from one make to another, The cables may need to be cut and spliced. as the connectors may be different, but when I added a 2nd camera I had to cut and splice on my own connectors (It uses A/V 2 input)

Nothing special about the camera save it is reverse scan.. but then so is every other back up camera made.
