I just purchased a 2007 Damon Tuscony 4055 2 months ago, I found the name of the previous owner and contacted him as to when it was last serviced and he said that he had the oil changed every 2000 miles, not that I don't believe him possibly his service guy was misleading him but when I checked the oil it was almost 2 quarts low and I have never heard of anyone changing the oil on a 350 hp cat every 2000 miles. My question is how often do most of you change oil, change filters such as fuel and water filters and without visably inspecting each filter can anyone tell me what filters I need to purchase since I will probably do my own service? The coach has 17,000 miles on it. Thanks for any help

Call freightliner and they will give you all the information on filters, oil and they may even be able to give you a service report on when, where and how often the chassis was serviced. And two belts. drive Belt 01-24730-004, water pump belt Cat 036-6775. freightliner, gaffney, SC 864-206-8755. Hope I helped you. Ed

I would suggest you start at a new "base", have ALL filters and fluids
changed now, have a complete lube job, front end alignment and
ride height checked. Unless you are very skilled working on this chassis,
I think you would be best to find a Freightliner service facility
to handle the maintenance.

Here is the toll free number for Freightliner, 1 800 385 4357. They are one of the most helpful customer service companies I have ever dealt with. Long after I was out of warranty they treated me like I just purchased my MH. Usually, 15,000 miles or one year is the inteval for changing oil. The previous owner may have just taken it in once a year and had a shop service it, so he doesn't know what was done.

Don't be too quick to assume it is low on oil. Unless the dipstick has been calibrated it is quitelikely not marked correctly. The only way to know for sure is to drain and fill with the correct amount of oil (19 qts. for CAT C7 engine) and compare the oil level with the FULL mark on the dipstick.

I had first oil change (at 7.5k) at Salina KS Freightliner and after the change they recommended 15.0k or (one year) intervals. My last two services were done in Gaffney and they swear by thier 15.0k miles (or once a year) recommendation. I've talked to several other owners while visiting Gaffney and they are following that routine as well.
