My 12' slide seems to be too far forward towards the front on the coach.
This is hard to describe but I'll try.
The rubber in the front get squished, and hangs up, flopping back and forth. I usually put a butter knife or my fingers in to hold it the right way while my wife brings it in or out.
The other end , the rubber is an inch away from even touching. So the slide just needs to be back about an inch, and I don't see an adjustment to do this. It would be kind of scary to remove all the screws and and redrill holes so close to theold holes. I have no leaks, with the slide in or out because of the perimeter seals, but as you move the slide , you can see about an inch of daylight on the back wall , while the front is sqishing the seal.
Has any one had this problem? I know it's been like this since it was new, and I thought it was just tight, until I notice the gap at the back.
Any suggestions?

Max, Not sure that you can get a straight answer from anyone. Without examining it and by what you say, it sounds as though it was mis-installed. Would be a lot of work to loosen and reinstall, but possibly could be done if the screws were put back in a different spot. Not sure it would be worth the work if it's been OK this long. Just keep some spray silicone or slide lubricant generously applied to the tight seal. Good luck, John H....

We have a 2006 Intruder, bought new October 2006. From day one the living room slide had a problem with the front gasket. It wouldn't come out and had to be wiggled out with the awning rod. A real pain. Studying the problem revealed that the slide had been mounted too far forward, just about 5/16 of one inch. Thanks, Damon, for one more poor assembly job. This 12 foot slide is the electric rack and pinion type. Checking under the slide at the outer ends of the racks I found 2 bolts in the outer end of each rack mount which had oval shaped holes where the bolts go through. I marked off 5/16 of an inch with duct tape alongside of the mount, loosened the bolts, and pounded them 5/16 forward with a biggish hammmer, then tightened the bolts. Moved the slide in and out a few inches, and PROBLEM SOLVED. The gaskets now work perfectly. A new problem arose, since the slide had moved back, it now struck the belt molding when closed. This necessitated prying off the molding cap and using (very carefully) a hacksaw blade to saw 5/16 off the end of the molding (quite difficult) and replacing the cap. Also had to make clearance for an electric box under the slide, but that was easy. My only regret is I didn't do this 2 years earlier. If you have questions, contact me at obbm1@hotmail.com and I will help.

The bedroom slide has a gasket problem also caused by sloppy assembly, it is easy to fix but if not fixed each time the slide is put out, causes a leak when raining. Thanks again, Damon.

Thanks obbm, I see what you're talking about with the oval shaped bolt holes. Mine looks like it needs to go back about 5/16" also.
I loosened the nuts on the bolts in the oval hole but it doesn't want to move. Does'nt it look like I would have to remove all those phillips head screws and maybe the bolts with the 9/16" nuts also?
Does yours look like this?

I wish I would have noticed this when it was new. I think the whole slide is one tooth off on the rack and pinion. The back of the slides comes out 31 1/2" and the front comes out 31". The rack itself is has a a 1/2" in difference, probably one tooth.
This could be the whole problem.

You made it sound easy, but mine seems like I have to do alot more than loosen those 2 bolts in the oval holes

Well.. There are 4 bolts, and you may ned to back off that nut more than you have tried as well, make sure you can see a gap between nut and slotted plate

You may also need to adjust the racks a bit in and out. I won't go there just now though

On my slide when you put it out it touchs at the top but at the floor its 1 1/2" away from the wall. I adjusted the the bolts on the bottom of the slide to make it flush on the inside wall but when I closed it was 1" away from the outside wall. My question is how do you adjust the drive so I can bring it in further?

I have noticed that on my slide the top makes contact first both going in and out, The motor has enough torque to push the slide the rest of the way. Can't speak about yours

There is a very good reason to do it that way by the way.

FWIW, I had seals replaced on my main slide on my Damon Intruder. I had the slide readjusted by the dealer. Looking at the side wood strips, the top closes tightly - when open and the bottom has about a one inch gap - both fore and aft. When closed and secured with the transit bars the slide seems to close very tight.

One other slide comment / question. My BR slide is also off center enough that I always have to pull it out after opening the slide. I read somewhere that putting some antiskid tape or aut molding tape vertically on the on the slide cures the problem. It will flip the seal as the slide moves in and out. Any of you heard of this?

Hi MAX49,

The ends of the rack bar should have slots for adjustment both up and down and left to right (or forward and back, depending how you look at it). Anyway, two dimensions. I wouldn't looosen the vertical adjustment, which from your picture also has those two vertical screws for setting the vertical height.

Two of the screws look like they are the ones to loosen. It would be difficlut to move the slide, so I just hammered the rack ends over and then clamped them with a C-clamp while I tightenrd the bolts. Then the slide alighne itself when run in and out. From the picture it is unclear whether the rack end mount would move if these bolts were loosened. Probably OK to loosen one rack mount and see if it will move toward or away from the front of the M/H. I will try to take some pictures of my setup.

Bill

My pinion gears , on the rack have a one tooth difference also. One side comes out a half inch further than the other. I tried jacking it up , so the gears would disengage, and then tried prying the slide across one tooth but it didn't work. I ended up spending at least 2 hrs loosening, prying, hammering, tightening and it is just the same.
I guess this problem is better than it not opening/ closing or leaking tho.
