What is the function of the little arm on one end of the slide awning?

I don't know the official use, but last fall as we crossed Wyoming the quartering wind was so strong it was causing the driver's side front slide topper to come out and then slap back as it gusted (underway on the interstate). I finally pulled off and found some phone cord in the junk box in a bay and used it to to tie the arm and the siide topper up tight so it could not fly out. Worked great. The funny part is I had no ladder and had to lean the hooked rear ladder portion against the RV wall and tie with one hand and hold with the other - all the while standing on the top step of the ladder.

"Anti-Billow" Arm. While on-the-road it prevent the awning fabric from ballooning-up!

It can be reset if not set by the factory correctly. We had to reset 2 of out 4 because the factory didn't do them correctly. Two were done correct and two where not.
