I have a 2009 Challenger 376. On a recent trip to FL I noticed in the mirror that the living room slide was extended about an inch. Stopped brought in back in and continued. About a 100 miles later I could see that the slide was working it's way back out. Put the travel lock in, which during walk through they told me not to use. The bottom would continue to come out about an inch but the bar held the top in. Called the dealer and Service Department said that it was normal for the slide to "float" or extend up to 2 inches while traveling.

Question is does anybody else experience this and is it normal? A bit unnerving to see the slide moving out while you are driving.

Our living room slide has always done the same thing, but only about 1/2--3/4 inches movement while traveling. I think two inches is way too much movement while the locking bar is in place and I would have it checked by someone else.

Mine never has. I have a slide lock bar at the top behind the driver position and use it all the time.

In fact I have tried a couple of times, by mistake, to extend the slide without removing the bar and nothing moves an inch.

We have a 2008 Challenger 378 and have never experienced slide movement. The galley slide is gear driven with a lock bar that I always use. The dinette slide is cable/pully driven and does not require a slide bar, but never moves while we are transit. The bedroom slide is gear driven and never shifts either.
We had a Gulfstream prior to this and the gear driven slides always shifted when traveling until they made some adjustments.
I would contact Damon (Martin Johnson) and discuss this with him (he is always very responsive).

Thanks for the answers. Just heard back from the Damon Regional Service Manager who advised that the slide should not move and it appears that the brake on the electric motor has failed. Time to schedule a trip to the dealer as soon as the snow stops.

Greg I, your slide brake may be just not in the "on" position as happened to me right after we purchased our pre-owned MH. The brake operator for my gear driven slide is at the opposite end of motor from the gear and can be easily turned about 90 degrees to engage the brake. I found instructions on the slide gear manufacurer's web site. Before I found the fix I cut a 2x4 block to length to jam between MH inside wall and slide flange and got zero movement w/ the temporary block.
