WOW
today was our third day of shiver me timbers cold

been keeping the heat set at 70-72F, its been cycling about once every 1/2 hr.
along with a small ZYLON (small heater with a red light across the front, reminded me of the 70's show )heater on the dash to keep the big window clear

anywho
this morning i went out and checked the wet bay for temps and was SHOCKED
the thermometer on the floor was -1 C and there was a small patch of ice about the size of a half dollar. my fresh water tank band heater was on, but the gray and black were off.
the upper thermometer was reading 4C, so i repacked the wool around the lower plastic bowl for the drains and such.

we have found several air leaks behind the couch slide and the big fat metal heat sink for the seat belts WOW that baby gets cold so its now shielded and i sealed the air leaks, which help in a big way
if it ever quits blowing i plan to look at stopping the cold flow from the firewall and steps.

that big hole the steps are in needs some serious work on keeping out the cold

Powerboatr, Steps are freezing...I have a plastic sheet I cut to insert and remove from the battery cover (top step). Once in I can stuff it with insulation (the plastic cuts the wind and the insulation well...insulates). Now they are just real cold...If you can come up with a better idea I am listening... Just a thought to help. Also did you try "Geat Stuff in the gaps that don't move? K-man

great stuffed and sealed this summer.
the thin material walls surrounding the step box is a big factor in making it cold.
might have to apply some external insulation to stop the big chill.
looked at some engine box stuff for boats that should maintain a fire rating and is impervious to wet

So we are hearing that there is a lot of cold air coming in thru the steps??. I guess we have a lot to learn. By building a carpeted board to set over the "hole", will that help keep the cold out while traveling? We were thinking of making one anyway, just for a safety precaution. (Saw one in a used motorhome that we looked at.) Especially if we have grandkids in there sometime. Learning alot from these posts. Thanks
