So i have had this coach for 2 years and have read the entire book numerous time and each time i come to the part about the tilt and telescope steering wheel, i ask myself why mine does not telescope, maybe its optional (it even has optional in the text). i have pulle don it and pushed it and no movement....EVER

so the other day when i was doing some deep cleaning under the dash.
i removed the steering column trim pieces and looked at the column and to see if i could adjust the column some, to be more comfy driving. after staring at it for a 10 or so minutes i determined yep it could be adjusted.
SO off i go to get a wrench.

sit down your going to laugh

as i approach the nut, i decided to tilt the column so i could get a better view and BAM the very nut i am about to loosen, moves as i step on the tilt pedal........
oh it gets better

so i gently pull up on the steering wheel and viola it moves effortlessly
I can make it shorter or taller.
SMILES all around
so why couldn't i move it before????

i put the trim back on and the solution practically lept out at me. The trim panel next to the dash is jammed tight against it preventing the steering wheel from telescoping.

sooooooo
off comes the panel and out comes the dremel

i fixed the trim panel so it fits nice and now allows a full movement of my steering column

just had to share.....it really is sad, as i have asked my service place a few times and no one ever said it was wrong before????

Sometimes the solution to things is so obvious it makes it hard to see. Good job!

Thanks Powerboater:

This will be my next check as well - my roommate is going to love this as she is always complaining about it being too high.
