I'm considering the installation of power vent in my '06 Daybreak. The physical installation looks pretty straight forward, but I'm wondering about wiring. Is there already a circuit in place to provide power to the opening by our good friends at Damon or will I have to snake wires from somewhere?
Also, any comments on the louvers for the side windows? We'll be doing some dry camping in a month and thought the powered vent and louvers might be a good idea.

They do not pre-wire vent openings, you will need to as you said snake power wire from some where else. You might also want to consider getting the MaxxAir vent covers so you can leave the vents open should it be raining outside.
Good luck.

Hi Scott...Is the vent you want to power in the main living area? I was told by a Damon rep that they pre wire those vents so that you can add a Fantastic fan. To see if it's pre wired, unscrew the trim on the vent. When you pull it down, you will see the wires if they are there. I did mine and the wires were behind some foil.
Check and let us know, ok?

Chandler,
Hmmm, I pulled the trim down earlier today and I thought it was a welded aluminum frame with no wires, but I may have missed them if they're covered with foil. I'll go out and pull it down again and look a little closer, and let you know.

I just checked again. Welded aluminum frame, no holes, no foil. If they pre-wired, I wouldn't know which side to drill through to start looking.
I think I'll put some Maxxair vent covers on, for now. If I decide to go ahead and install a powered fan-vent, I'll probably fish wires from the nearest ceiling light and drill through the aluminum frame.
Before that happens, I'll talk to my dealer and see how he'd do it.<g>

Hi Scott...I'm off tomorrow and I'll pull my frame down and look again. Bill may very well be right. I talked to the rep at an RV show in 2005 so things may have changed. It's possible that the Challenger / Intruder models had the wiring but the Daybreak doesn't.
I'll let you know what I find.

My install yesterday over beadroom was wired to bedroom light over bed. There was no existing wires. This was a big mistake because your fan runs off the wall switch!
Power fan-vent both directions is worth it for dry camping. Also works by pulling coach air for much better cooling while driving. I really like it. There is some debate as to whether vent cover is not compatible....

I put the power vent in my kitchen and I drilled a 3/8" hole through the aluminum frame towards the ceiling light that was 8" away. I then used a long 3/8" bit and drilled through the foam and ran the wires to the light wires and tied them in. It works fine and this light was not on a switch so you have power all the time.
