My electric takes just a few minutes more than gas to heat my 10 gallon tank. Give it 20 ro 30 minutes to heat up once plugged in.

If your furnace is working properly then you have sufficient pressure in the line. The next thing to check would be for a blockage in the delivery tube. Similar to a barbeque grill, little insects can get in there and clog it up if the screen to prevent this is missing or damaged.
