I have an 07 Tuscany. The two basement storage areas behind the driver and passenger front tires get water in them when driving in the rain. I have tried to seal any gaps, etc under the coach around the fender well areas but I still get water in the storage area.

Anyone with the same problem? Any solutions?

Thanks!

We have the sister of the Tuscany, an 08 Essence
Couple of suggestions > Look at the fit of the gasket around the opening into the compartment. The opening has square corners and he gasket is sort of rounded in the corners. I found water in one of our compartments and although I am not positive, I think there is a poor seal. Not between the door and the gasket, but rather between the frame and the gasket itself. Also look at the seam where the gasket ends are joined together. I have one that is not sealed completely and water could enter here.
I want to crawl inside and have my wife close the doors so that I might inspect for light shining through corners or where ever....but I wonder if she would let me back out. Good luck and if you find the culprit, please let me know as well.

Doc,

You may be on to something with the gasket seal on the door. I'll check it out this weekend and let you know. Your idea of climbing in and closing the door to look for daylight leaking in is a good one.

Thanks for the heads up on your concern about your wife not letting you out. Before my wife comes out to help me, I plan to sneak around to the other side of the moho and leave one of those doors cracked open as an escape route!

Terry

mine where leaking as well
I found the small spot welds on the inboard edge of the corner had blown thru during the welding and it was letting water blow throw in the rain

I also added a pair of small rubber deflectors that mount 3" up from the lower edge and hang down about 6"

it appeared on mine that the water was blowing through that lower sealed edge
so it got goooped and then a rubber cover that was also sealed
I haven't had a Rainy day yet to check it

i may be NUTs but i pressurized the basement with a blower fan taped to the sewer hose pass thru hole I used a bilg blower fan i had laying around.
this provided a large volume of air to the basement.
i also had to tape off the heater vents inside to stop the air blowing up through them
it gave me enough positive pressure to see bubbles when i sprayed the areas with soapy water

it was red necked but it helped me find suspect areas.

when we get home i will snap a pic or two

Bill,

What did you find out about your basement leaks- where were they coming from?

Tks,

sorry for the crappy pics but....i have just not been up to speed the last few weeks
this is my splash guard. the big white thing is y front tire cover

i would add to look at the basement wall to frame interface in the area where the propane bottle is, the wall flexes somewhat and is another source of splash water.
I ran a thick bead of very flexible window sealant around all the upper edges to help stop any water.
