Water tank fill from pressurized city water connection?

On my old Bounder there was a valve near the water pump that I could open while connected to city water to fill my tank. Does Damon install such a valve? Its not near the pump.

Actually took me a while to find the pump on this MH. Hope I do not have to replace it soon, its in a very small cubby hole near the floor and looks like the linen closet was built around it. Really does not look like one could reach in, disconnect and unscrew the mount and get the pump out the opening.

Anyway, is there a valve to fill the tank while connected to city water or is the only fill via the gravity feed hole on the curb side?

On my 03 Intruder you have to use the exteranl gravity feed. At least I haven't discovered another way. Wish there was.

Ours is in the utility bay in the same panel with the exterior shower. Not sure what you have on your Daybreak?

In the utility bay I have a connection that is labeled City Water Fill.
That is where I connect the hose for fresh water connection at home or at hookups. I always wondered why they added Fill to the label if there is no way to actually "fill" the water tank from there.

Mine has a valve next to the hose connection that diverts the water into the tank.

Our 4076 has a divertor valve that directs water to the internal distribution system or the fresh water tank. Default position seems to be to the system, but guess personal preferance would prevail as to where the selector was set.

Guess I need to add a valve.

Is there an easy way to add a fitting to the pex tubing other than the special bands fittings the factory uses? IE a crimp or clamp type fitting? Or do I need to buy the banding tool and bands? Good source for these fittings?

I must open a filling port when using the fresh water bypass vavle to fill the fresh water tank. The open port eliminates pressure build-up in the tank when filling.

I bought a PEX banding tool to redo some leaks in our coach, but I read recently in Good Sam magazine that slip-on fittings have become the retrofit fittings of choice. See article in Feb. Highways Magazine

PS: I bought all my fittings at Lowe's.

For neat and easy DIY fittings check out Seatech. A diverter valve is kinda spendy (like $20), but idiot simple to install. Just find the section of PEX (I'm assuming 1/2") you want to tap into for the diverter, and cut out a section equal to the thru-section of the diverter valve which is shaped like a tee. Then run your new line off the leg of the tee valve.

If the only fill is the gravity fill, follow the gravity line from that and at a convenient location plumb in a tee and a check valve facing the tank on the gravity fill side of the tee. Voila. If you need a source on the Seatech fittings, PM me.

ours to
however if you leave it in the FILL position, it will fill the tank then pleasantly starting dumping it out of the vent on the passenger side and flood the wet bay and the campsite

The thing you removed at the City Water Fill connection is a check valve that prevents your water line from shooting water out when you are on the water pump.
