I am curious as to the kind/brand if any do you guys use/like? ie. Guardian, Protect-a-Tow.

I'm kinda tire of all the trash that the coach kicks up.

i abandoned a tow bar or dolly and are going with this set up
it allows me vehicle switch out, no cost of an additional braking set up
and i can back up ( which is a biggie for me )

dollar wise its 1.3rd the cost of a tow bar, brackets and braking system, makes us long, and i might have to park it at the storage area but, at least toad inst getting beat up.
I saw a guy in nm drag his honda pretty far with the wheels hard over before he stopped to fix it, that pretty much ended my tow bar ideas.

If you are a cheap SOB (like me) then here's a 6 buck solution. Go to a hardware or building supply store and buy 6 or 7 feet of carpet runner - whatever it takes to reach across the front of your towed. Take it home, open the hood on the towed and lay the runner across the grill, fuzzy side toward the towed. Cut a couple of holes to hang the runner over the pins that support the closed hood. Cut out the area where the hood latch is. Cut a couple more holes for your tow bar to hook through. (you're done now)

When you get ready to hook up, open the hood and hang the carpet in place, then close the hood. Hook up normally. Then take a bungee strap and run it from one wheelwell to the other across the bottom of the carpet to keep it from flapping in the wind.

We've been doing it this way for close to 6 years with the original carpet. Surprisingly enough it looks pretty good. Its dead simple. It costs next to nothing. The fuzzy side will stay clean against the vehicle - the other side is easy to hose off when it gets dirty.

Believe it or not, the much maligned full width "Hula Skirt" type mud flap does an excellent job for me. Over 14,000 miles of towing in the past two years with no visible damage to the front end of the toad.

How will you park that thing once you get to a campground? I think you can't manipulate it with the RV. and its to heavy to do by hand. Looks like a real nice trailer for going down the road. But unrealistic at a CG.

actually
at the ones we venture to the most there are places to leave it up front, or on spot

cgs and state parks we visit close by we leave the car at home.

use the edge to spot it ok,

i admit a few places it may be an issue, but i feel we can work around em

That's a nice looking trailer, I have seen quite a few people tow big van trailers behind M/H and carry a car and two M/C inside them. Good luck with your trailer.

I guess this whole question puzzles me. I have been pulling cars behind motorhomes since 1996 using tow dollies from U-haul or Master Tow. MH's had a hula skirt, no skirt and now my Tuscany has the big full width mud flap. three different dodge minivans have been used over the years. four sets of tires on the 1999 master Tow dolly so there are a few miles involved. Traveled freeway, regular ways, dirt roads, wet roads, snowy roads, and detours through the national Forests, yeah the whole gammet (how do you spell this word?). Never any issue with any type of damage to the toad. Yes it gets dirty on sloppy roads, just like the MH, but never damaged. Most damage I have received is the marks on the top of the car where I put the extra tow lights. Since nobody but me is tall enough to see these I don't worry about it.

teacher i know for us
the hauler is, well the fit all solution
we have a few other "autos" that will be taking a journey with us, so the trailer is best suited.
some trips we just take the bikes

i have actually been thinking about doing one of those things because one of my vehicles is s Smart Car. rear engine rear drive, towable flat and on dolly but requires a battery shut off switch installed. I dislike making special modifications to cars hence no towbrackets and wiring etc. for tow bar. the best solution is the trailer. Been looking at them a little bit, Your looks good. the other night I was fooling around someplace on line and saw the one that is a golf cart/motorcycle carrier and car dolly combined. I liked that one since I could put my smart car sideways on the trailer since it is as long as my MH is wide. it would only take up 5' in length and i could tow the second car too. Why both cars? Who the heck knows but as we prepare for full timing you think about all kinds of stupid stuff.

By the way, i was looking at some old stuff while on line today and saw your spice rack thingy. The tray you installed under the sink is like one we found at Lowe's for our old Ultrasport. The one we found had two drawers stacked that would fit into your cabinet. You could double the storage at no additional space used up.
