I have an 07 3274 Daybreak. I want to install the Valve stem extenders on the rear tires so i can check my pressures. It appears i have the chrome looking wheel covers. Can anyone advise me on how these are removed?

To remove the chrome wheel covers do this. Three of the lugs will have a little dimple on them. Remove them the cover will come right off.

Regards,

If your worried put some tape on the lug. I doubt you will damage them with your lug wrench. They are not as tight as a actual lug nut.

Good luck,

PineKap, I have to add something here. My wheel covers are held on by only two nuts. I'm guessing that there are other companies that use three but if you have ones like mine, there are only two. I use a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar, a 11/4" socket and a 6 inch extension. I never liked the lug wrench that came with mine. The angle is all wrong and the socket was a poor fit. I have a complete tool kit with me but I have a dedicated bar, extension and the two size sockets I need to remove the wheel cover and the tires. They certainly came in handy a couple of weeks ago!

Thanks for all the help. I was able to remove the covers and check the tire presures. I will pick up the correct extenders today and install them when we get back so the next time it will not be such a job just to check my pressures.

My wheel covers also only had two nuts holding them on. But they were on snug not very tight and were very easy to remove once i had the correct size socket.

Thanks again for the replies.

Chandler, tell me more about the 1/2 breaker bar. I have one and also a socket to fit the wheel lugs, buat have been concerned about getting them tight enough (specs call for 400#)

Kayo...I see you have the Workhorse chassis. They use a different size and style lug nut. It's much bigger than the Ford. The Ford has a small (3/4 inch) nut with a wave washer under it. I don't remember the torque off the top of my head but it's like 90 foot pounds.
You have larger tapered lug nuts. You would need a long breaker bar, perhaps with a 3/4 inch drive to break your lug nuts loose. You can always use a piece of pipe to put over the bar to extend it's length but you take the risk of snapping the 1/2 inch end. I wouldn't worry about the torque if you get a flat. If you tighten the nuts as tight as you can with the same wrench you used to get them off, you'll be fine until you can get somewhere where you can get them checked.
