Windshield Wiper Issues

While we love our 2008 Astoria, the windshield wipers are a serious issue. At any speed over about 35 MPH the driver's side wiper gets blown off the windshield and sticks there. That causes the wiper motor to burn up. We'd like to know what others might have done to fix this. This is a safety issue.

I had the wipers adjusted many times with no success due to the wind.
I went to a shorter blade length and it solved my problem.

I too went to the 28" blades and solved the problem. FYI, it made no noticeable difference in forward vision. The shorter blades are more stable and do a better wipe as they come across the windshield.

after i lost my driver one a few times i went with a 28 blade
but they still get weird if a semi passes going the opposite way
rain or night is not the best driving environment for these puppies.

Plus, the 28" blades cost, what, $20 a pair instead of the $85 for the 32"? I changed over, too.

My 2007 Challenger has a one-piece windshield which has an acute contour at its edge that gives the driver's side wiper fits. The blade is nearly vertical at the leftmost end of its travel and is just barely getting into that contour. As far as I've been able to determine there's no adjustment to avoid that large travel so the blade gets pretty "light" on the windshield and kind of wonky.

The shorter radius wipers on my friend's Daybreak (with a two-piece windshield) are much more effective. The parallelogram mechanism that articulates the blades to keep them vertical makes for much better blade control
