Hey guys, I have winterized my unit after each run into an area where we were able to use the water because it wasn't freak'n freezing there. I was told that all I had to do was to drain and blowout the water from the water lines (So I went out and got a compressor and a blow out connection) and then I wouldn't have to push in any anti-freeze. It just comes to mind after reading John H's comment about his "anti"freeze post.Any comments you have would be appreciated.

I have always used air to blow the water lines here in Maryland. Couple of things to remember. Make sure the output on the compressor is regulated to 40 psi so you don't blow a fitting and run the water pump with the air on to clear the water from the pump.

I always use anti-freeze, even if I blow the lines. It doesn't cost much compared to the alternative of replacing water lines, etc. I've winterized and de-winterized my MH three times so far this winter, but I guess it's the cost of enjoying our house on wheels.

Cowboy88, My concern about just blowing out the lines is not knowing for sure that maybe a small amount of water trapped or laying somewhere would cause some sort of damage. If my anti-freeze froze then for sure any amount of water left somewhere is going to freeze. That is why in my opinion, the AF does a more thorough job. I guess it's to each his own and what makes you comfortable. As it was said in my post, the AF doesn't expand, but water sure does. John....

I winterize just like the RV Dealers. Open all the drains including the water heater and filters, blow out the lines with regulated air pressure opening all the facuets and toilet valve / sprayer. Pour the antifreeze down the drains to fill the traps and disconnect the coach battries. Do you think dealers in cold climates fill the lines with antifreeze? NO, too costly and time comsuming. Drain the holding tanks. What residual antifreeze get through the traps will settle in the tanks. If there is a few drops of water clinging to a line it doesn't matter it can't expand enough to crack a pipe if you have blown the lines clear.

First of all, that is a beautiful coach! When winterizing using compressed air make sure you ALWAYS have another faucet opent before closing the previous one, this prevents any build-up of pressure in your lines. Using air will not winterize your traps, be sure to put antifreeze in each one. I have used this method with several caoches without ever having one freeze up. I'll be happiest when winter is OVER!!!

I blow the lines out too. can't see paying for all that pink stuff to fill 'em
Now on my rig, I've done a survey of the lines and if there is any water left in 'em when I'm done it won't be enough to cause issues, Of course I blow and blow and blow (Pausing between blows) about half a dozen or more times to insure that I get it all out.
And on my rig, when they say "low point drain" they are not kidding
Your rig.. Is of course.. Not my rig So what I just said about low points may not apply as well.
DO NOT FORGET TO EMPTY THE WATER HEATER
I learned that one the easy way.. You see. somebody ELSE forgot

Thanks Guys, first for all the input and thanks to soonerdave for the compliment on the rig. I do put the AF in the traps. I was worried that blowing out the pipes wasn't enough. I do, as John-D stated, blow and blow and blow. As for empting the water heater I learned that one on my travel trailer. After my friend ruined his heater - very costly. Anyway thanks again. I guess it's time for a new avitar, it looks very different on this message board.

Since the output pressure is adjustable on air compressors, I set mine for 15 psi below the max of 55 psi recommended in my Damon owner's manual. That way I can close one tap and then open the next one once pressure has built back up to 40 psi. I make the rounds between the faucets and flush mechanism until I don't get even a hint of water vapor. I open the low point drains last and let the air in the lines blow out the last of the water in the pressure side of the water system. Then I put in a cup of antifreeze in each drain and the toilet as well.
