2006 Mandalay 40B awning question
Greetings. I purchased a 2006 Mandalay 40B in January 2019. Shortly after purchase, I managed to hit a low hanging branch and damaged the front mount of the main awning. Insurance took care of it along with my deductible. Because I did not have the rig long, I honestly had not opened the awning more than just partially.
I am not happy with the replacement awning because the weatherguard cover only covers half of the rolled up awning, leaving the bottom half of the roll exposed when closed. And the awning is white on that part which is the only white on the whole rig. I have the blue / gray paint scheme. The RV service center told me they no longer make the awning I had on it, and the new one has a shorter length of "slats" which is the weatherguard cover. I am not sure I am buying their explanation. But am having trouble proving them wrong.
Both the original and replacement are Dometic A&E 21' power awning. The new model # is 815BT21.
My questions for you:
1. Can anyone provide the model # of the original awning? I could not find it in my documentation. I found the mounting hardware info, but not the awning. Do you have original model # by chance?
2. Can you confirm the color of your original awning?
With this info I will contact Dometic and find out if there is a replacement or not. I can't imagine they would not provide one that covered the awning when closed. Or maybe the service center installed it wrong. But it looks like the weatherguard is not long enough to cover the roof portion and rolled awning both.
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.
