2011 Serrano 31Z Questions

I know its a Four Winds , technically not a Thor but..

1) has anyone else experience a front window water leak. Not sure its the windshield or above. It drips down from the top liner hood into the windshield?
I have caulked everything up there I can find and it still leaks. May have to bring it into CW.

2) I would like to retro the bedroom so I have more drawer space... Has anyone done this to this unit and if you have do you have any pictures you can share?
It severely lacks drawer space in Bed Room.

Thanks

Thor Motor Coach was formed when Damon Motor Coach and Four Winds International strategically merged in late 2010 therefore the Serrano is a Thor product.

I owned a 2010 Serrano and I did not have a water leak on the windshield but I did on the driver and co-pilot windows. In order to find the leak you may need to pull back the black rubber seal and use a good silicone caulk.

The seal is used to hide the edge of the glass and the frame. The glass is bonded to the frame and may have a void in this bonding. Be careful not to use too much caulk or the black rubber seal my not fit back in it’s designed groove.

I love my Serrano but it should come with umbrellas. Working leaks is a regular activity. The leak on the inside in front of the cabinets is the front marker light. Seal around it and that should fix that. Water inside the front cabinets is from the front fiberglass cap. It flexes and you need to find the opening in the sealer on top where the roof meets the cap and re seal it. I have to do this a couple time a year.
Leaks at the right and left front windows can be in two places Thor has a fix to seal the rear view mirrors. Call them. They will fax you fix. My problem was on the outside were the small rail running at the top enters the front cap (you know the one that flexes) cut the vinyl insert and inject sealer under the front cap.
Then the mother of all leaks is a slide leak where the molding on the outside of the slide on the bottom edge slips. They used common cheep screws to secure the molding from the bottom, get a screw one size larger in stainless steel and replace them. If the heads pop off the screws as mine did the molding slips and destroys the seal and opens it to rain and a/c drip.

We've had ALL these same problems, and same repairs. You'll probably need to have them redone yearly.

Oh yeah! For two years we chased water leaks. The rear view mirrors, the side windows, various other places. The popped screws on the slide trims (we had CW replace all of them) We never completely fixed the windshield leak, but after we traded it, I learned that what often seems to be a windshield leak is a leak in the clearance light housings above the middle of the windshield. Seems that water puddles there and leaks around the gaskets, then follows the curve of the top to run down the inside of the windshield. Looks like the windshield itself is leaking.

Never got a chance to test that on ours, but I'm betting that was the problem.
