2018 Challenger differences ?

Getting close to buying a 37 YT pricing, color, dealership.

Received an e-mail from Total value stating the 2017 they had is sold and can only offer a 2018, please call and they will go over the changes in the 2018 model year.

My question here ... what are the changes ?

Not sure if it was 18 we saw at RV show but - big slide was triple track vs cable. Not real sure I would want to be early adopeter. Also would have question about how floor worked since track slide is straight line and will not accommodate different start and stop levels. Also entry door latching was totally new. Only time will tell on that change.

Not sure on the Challenger, but on the 2018 Miramars they got rid of the gas oven and stove and replaced with an induction stove and convection microwave. They also dropped the Rapid Camp system and replaced with Firefly Multipex control system. Also color changes.

We saw a 37yt at the Denver RV show this weekend 3/4/17. We have a 2004 Damon Intruder 350F (for sale) and that new unit caught our eye...it was the last RV we saw as we were leaving.

If anyone has one, I'm interested in how the batteries (2 or 4?) hold up if dry camping and powering the fridge. Also my unit does not have a inverter so can you tell me if the inverter powers all plug in outlet and appliances or are they specific to say the Fridge or TV's? My dream is 4 batteries, solar, able to brew some coffee (inverter plug in) and watch some morning news without being at a campground plugged in or running generator to run TV's etc... I realize there is a limit, just not sure how the inverter works over shore power at outlets.

Anyone add factory or dealer solar panels and the extra batteries on this (tray holds 4)

Anyone order with or ad washer and dryer to that cool bathroom in the 37yt and if so what type of units.

Anyone towing trailer or say a jeep wrangler with this particular unit?

On 2018 comments, don't like they are doing away with 3 burner stove and not oven. Seems TMC is going all electric and given we like to dry camp in the colorado mountains it seems we may have issues?

comments appreciated!

love the new YT floor plan with the w/d in the large bath! the seating layout with the adjustable living room tv is also a great layout...

as for the drycamping - dual batteries with your 1,800w Inverter would probably not be best for more than a day or two at the time, unless you really like running the Generator A LOT!
Get the two additional batteries... it's the best and easiest upgrade for your drycamping - though, admittedly, having your coffee maker run only on the inverter will probably cause the battery depletion before the coffee is finished, causing you or your AGS(autoGenStart) to kick on the generator anyway. We always have the generator on when running the coffee maker, hair dryer, elec heater, or a long run for the microwave and we have 4 batteries with a 2,000w inverter.

The 1,800w inverter probably will not have all outlets on the inverter, but it's hard to say, or which ones are. Normally, the fridge, of course, the water heater, TVs, etc... but maybe not all wall outlets...

Solar power is on everyone's mind, especially drycampers, but solar is still not very cost effective, as compared to running the generator, though much quieter, of course! I think you'd have to have a fairly substantial setup to keep from using the generator very often, and it doesn't really help after dark if the a/c's are needed...

for towing, the 8,000lb capacity is sufficient for the Jeep or typical trailer, if the toad and the loaded weight of the whole coach is within GVCWR specs.... you'll have no problem pulling the tow, though you'll lose a little average MPG, of course.

Sold our 2004 Damon Intruder a couple weeks ago and are on vacation in flordia. Hit Lazy Days, Camping World and two others while here to look at replacement choices.

Narrowed down to Jayco Seneca and Challenger YT. At Camping World Tampa we really like the YT and feel that is where we will go for new RV.

We will likely order one as the Thor Rep said they would have a satellite prep on new ones and I thought maybe he said Solar prep but I may have been dreaming.

Just read about the new Horsepower ratings of 320 vs. 362 and understand that and the improved transmission operation, initially freaked at the lower HP rating but understand the calculation and lower rpm.

However, are there any owners out there of the Challenger YT that might have real life experience with their unit on driving, battery life for Residential Fridge. We would opt for the 4 battery option and solar if we pull the trigger.
