Hello-

I'm camping with some friends who rented a 2018 or maybe it's a 2019 Thor Ace 30.something (bunkhouse model). It has an external TV with a round external speaker mounted to the side of the rig just to the right of the TV when you're facing the TV. My friends want the external TV to use that external speaker, and/or to be able to play FM radio over that speaker. I've only owned Fleetwoods (don't hold it against me Thor fans) and couldn't figure it out. I tried settings on both TV's, the menus in the radio in the front panel, and went looking for a switch somewhere that would turn it on, but no dice.

How do you get that speaker to function and can use it for the external TV and/or to listen to the radio?

My 2015, 29.3 has a similar setup. Two waterproof external speakers. They are driven by the radio in the bedroom. AM/FM with bluetooth capability. I don't remember if the exterior TV uses the same speakers or its own internal speakers. Seldom use the external audio/video stuff.

On my 2017 ACE 30.1 the external speakers are connected only to the rear Jensen radio. I think the only practical way of getting the external speakers to work with the TV is to get an FM transmitter that connects to the TV headphone jacks and then tune the Jensen to the transmitter’s frequency. The Seki TV’s can’t directly drive speakers.

The Jensen will work with Bluetooth to a phone, but I’m not sure if it would work with a Bluetooth transmitter. I tried to get the Axxera in front to work with the front TV and Bluetooth with little success, but the Jensen might be smarter than the Axxera. With the Axxera I punted and have a 15 ft headphone cable from the TV to the Axxera

I added sound bars to both inside TV's, could probably do the same with the outside tv. Bluetooth transmitter to the Jensen would be slick. I don't like using the Jensen though, seldom do. It is not easily accessible and hard to see the tiny screen.

Like you Triplewide I rarely use the Jenson radio in the bedroom. It would be nice if Thor had an external radio in a outside compartment.

My other electronics rant is the dash radio/back-up camera screen/cd/dvd/whatever else it does, you need a college degree to figure out how to operate it. I need all the functions, but not all in one!

The external speakers work from the Jenson radio in the bedroom as noted. If you use the Aux II setting on the radio, the tv sound will play through them.

I agree, moved my camera outputs to a screen mounted on the dash. Info here:
