ACE motion sickness - solved

Ever since we picked up this ACE 29.2, we have had many complaints about motion sickness in the back. The kids down right hate the thing. Wife also has gotten a bit woosie under way.

Wind blows this thing all over the highway.

Tractor Trailers blow this thing around. I'm usually doing the passing, so I can predict the "suck in" and "blow out" that occurs during the pass.

Found this thread in the "Steering Wheel Play" post: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f23/cheap...fix-72335.html

It took me about an hour to do both front and rear sway bar adjustments.

It is a night and day difference to my family. Thanks to everyone that has posted regarding this issue. It has improved our quality of life in the RV.

''It is unbelievable how much difference the mod makes. I drove mine about 250 miles on the interstate and the trucks didn't bother me at all.

I made the trip back yesterday with a passenger in the back for the first time. No complaints from the grandaughter except that she couldn't watch the shows we taped for her on the DVR after the Genset shut off. She was, however, able to take a nap. The ride in the back was fine and it is great not being pushed around by the big trucks!

Care to give a description how you made the adjustments to your ACE? Looks like it might take longer to read that thread vs grabbing some tools and jack stands.

If you look at post #692 (pg 50) and #746 (pg 54) on http://www.irv2.com/forums/f23/cheap...fix-72335.html
you will see the mod done to Thor ACE's. We basically moved the end link attach point where it attaches to the sway bar to the hole in the bar closer to the axle. On the rear one, you flip the z bracket and just put the bolts back in. On the front, the other hole is empty. I changed the end links that attach to the front sway bar (post 746) to longer ones keep the angle on the end link to the sway bar close to stock. They are available for about $100. You need 15 mm and 18 mm wrenches/sockets. It needs to be torqued to @65 ft lbs.

I found it helpful to use a "pump jack" to raise the end of the sway bar back into position. If you pulled the sway bars off the vehicle and laid them on the ground, one end of the bar would be on the ground, but the other end would be a few inches off the ground. There is a "twist" in the bar.

When you try to line up the bolts in the holes, one end by itself is easy. But when you try to put the other bolt in the hole, it is a few inches off. Which end you start on will determine if you have to push up on the bar to line up the hole, or pull down on the bar to line up the hole. I found it easier to push up on the bar to line up the hole . . . with a jack.
