ACE TV/DVD Question

Just bought & hooked up new Sony DVD player.
Turn on DVD, load disc (it's a good one) & hit play - DVD makes noise like it's functioning but nothing plays on the screen - displays 'NO SIGNAL'.
Have selected & verified HDMI1 as Input Source.
Plugged cable into every other HDMI inlet on TV & tried - all N/G.
Tried selecting AV as SOURCE on TV - no good either.
Am using the provided single HDMI cable already hooked to the original equipment TV (26" LED, 'CONTINU-US' is the brand name).
Would try the DVD player on our home TV but it's different set-up - no HDMI - just the multi colored cables & I don't have a converting pig-tail.
Any ideas??
Thanks in advance!!!
and 'Keep on keeping on'.........

I have a Sony DVD hooked up to the existing HDMI cable and it works fine. I set the TV to the HDMI input. I use the same cable with my satellite receiver when I use it.

Did the Sony unit come with a HDMI cable? (mine did) I would try connecting it directly to the TV to see if the pre-routed HDMI cable is intact. Mine was OK but for some reason it was plugged into HDMI #3 port on the TV.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Tried a rpl'mt DVD player w/same results = No Signal. Narrows it down some tho.

The Sony player didn't come w/a HDMI cable, only the multi-colored cables.

I will next obtain another HDMI cable & by-pass the RV's pre-loaded one just in case it's NG (which I hope for at this point, but very much doubt).

Have tried all 3 HDMI outlets on the TV - all indicate NO SIGNAL.

Maybe we're missing something simple like a toggle, or switch, another setting or something else were missing or beyond us, tech wise.

Just curious, did your ACE also come w/a CONTINU-US brand LED TV?

Anyway, it's off to Radio Shack for a HDMI cable.

The front is CONTINU-US and it has the crappiest speakers I have ever heard (sounds like the soup can & wire "telephones" we use to make as kids). The bedroom is a Sansui and it has much better sound. I think I will eventually replace both with larger screens (32" main and 24" in the bedroom, probably Vizios)

Yes, they are horrible tv's. But nowadays tv's can be bought cheap.
Aren't our ACE's supposed to come with a DVD player?
I know mine didn't. However, I swear the spec sheet says DVD player in the bedroom. ????

Yeah, the bedroom TV has a DVD player on the top right corner, the way mine was set-up stock, you had 2 options in the DVD or whichever source the cable switch was set to. (Park input or antenna)

TV/DVD Problem ID'ed

The THOR installed HDMI cable is faulty.
By-passed the OEM cable w/newly purchased one & wallah!!
OEM cable probably suffered a fatal kink when installed btw. overhead & roof - am told they don't take well to sharp bends.
Don't know if I'll be able to snake a new one along the same route of old one - looks doubtful, but will find another way.
Thanks for all the input!!

i'm pretty unhappy with the cable they used in my ACE, there is no slack at all in the cabinet. I can't even turn the DVD player to see the controls or whatever, I don't expect this cheap cable to last long then i'll be in your boat. I've contemplated a union and another cable just to give me the flexibility to turn the dvd player outward. So silly, really they couldn't have purchased a cable another foot longer?

Exactly why I repl'ed the cable myself - aside from the 120 mi RT to CW, once they get the RV it's like pulling teeth to get it back, or even learn just WTH they are doing with it - quite a system!
Good Luck!!

How did you route the new cable?

I have seen some devices where some outputs only worked under some conditions.. Example... DVD plays only on the "Multi-colored" (Audio Visual or A/V) cables.. Blue Ray uses HDMI.

Doubt that is the case here,,, but worth a try.
