Hi Everyone, my back up monitor is sinking (top right corner) into the dash. I am assuming a bracket has come loose? Has anyone removed the dash before or needed to repair the monitor? Thanks for your help.

Yes, I have removed the fake wood dash to access the monitor as mine too was sinking. I only had to remove it on the right hand side enough so that I could get my hand back to the screws that tighten it up.
However, my dash is so poorly supported that my power connection loosens up with all the bouncing around on the road. My MH is in the shop now hopefully getting the dash steadied up enough that it does not bounce around so much and I can actually have a monitor that stays on and a CD player that does not skip constantly.
There is so much weight in the monitor and the radio/CD that is only supported by the fake wood dash cover. I would suggest putting some sort of support in there while you have it off. I am trying to get this done under warranty right now. We will see if they actually do anything worthwhile or not.
Good luck.

Hi somarmed, I removed the right side screws and bottom enough that i can put my hand down and replaced the left side screw. My wife hold the dashboard open while I place the screw.

As the others have said it's not a difficult job. After reading this thread I decided I would tackle the job after putting it off forever. The backup monitor had slid back in the dash from all the vibrations. First I removed the small dash panel that goes around the steering column. Then I removed all the dash screws except for a couple on the far left side. Then pull out the dash. Also on mine there was a small lip directly above the instrument cluster that you had to push down a little bit to clear a tab on the panel behind it. Then the dash came out far enough to get my hand in there to reposition the monitor and tighten those stupid locking knobs on the mounting bracket. 20 - 30 minute job.

Thanks everyone for your replies. They are very helpful, as usual. I will tackle the job this winter during down time.

I had the same sagging monitor problem. I pulled the whole dash off, and added 1x1inch aluminum tubing to reinforced my dash. Used self taping screws to hold it all together. Made a bracket to hold the monitor, and radio in place. I also made a flat panel that I screwed in front of the dash, behind the wood looking facia. It works great. It doesn't bounce all over the place now. Less noise to try to weed out.

New owner of a Hurrricane 2007 34B - I also need to remove the fake wood dash to do some upgrades/mods (e.g. install mount for GPS). Quite honestly I haven't had much time too see how this is attached. Can you provide some more details - e.g. screws (are they easy to find?), hidden tabs I could easily break off , velcro attachments?
Many thanks!

Not sure about a 2007 34B but it should be the same as or close to a 2007 34N. Today while I was taking photos of my LCD installation I decided to eliminate some of the looseness of the dash and hopefully get rid of a squeak! I removed the U shaped wood grained trim around the steering column opening, then removed all the black screws on the rest of the wood grain trim. On mine there were 3 on the bottom just above the engine cover. The wood grain trim where the backup monitor, radio, switches and gauges slid forward enough for me to get behind it. I noticed that there was a large piece of plywood that went from the left side to the right side of the coach and there was a smaller piece that was on top of that one and was just forward of the gauges. The smaller piece had a bracket on it that was attached to the non-wood grain part of the dash but it would move up and down about a 1/4". I used a couple of wood screws to secure it to the large piece of plywood which helped steady the dash. I noticed there was a space between the smaller piece of plywood and the metal box that the steering column goes through. I measured the distance between the metal box and the plywood and it was just shy of the width of a 2 x 4. I used a 6 inch piece of 2x4, pushed it between the two and secured it to the plywood with wood screws. The dash was very stable! I tighted all the other straps and mounting screws, tighted the nuts that hold the monitor bracket (one had fallen off and the other 3 were loose) put it all back together and was very pleased with the sturdiness of the dash. All this took about an hour!
Just to make sure you don't have electrical issues throw your switches off for coach and chassis batteries!!!

The sliding backup monitor must be a common thing on Hurricanes. I just fixed mine on the weekend. As others have said, pretty simple job to do. I took out all the dash screws and pulled it forward enough to get my hands in there to tighten the knobs on the monitor. About 10-15 min to do.

Be careful with the screws when you put them back in. It doesn't take much effort at all to strip them out. I had to put a couple on the black area because of it. Just made sure you have a few black screws on hand if you need them. Mine look like the came that way. I had to have the instrument cluster replaced.
