I just purchased a 2008 Windsport R-36. When I got the unit I was given one key for the basement storage locks. It opened on about 1/2 of the compartments. Turns out I need another key for the remaining locks. Fourwinds says that is standard policy. Has anyone heard of this before?

Wow, that seems odd. Now that I think of it, I have two keys but they each open all the storage locks, but only one will open the lock to my water hookup.

Its the first I have heard of it , but thats no surprise.Your dealer should have a box of keys at the service writers desk .Not to many differant locksets in the industry.

It was news to my dealer also. They said they would order new, matching locksets from FourWinds. FourWinds says it is now company policy and will do nothing.

It wouldn't be too bad if it was all one side is one key and the other side took a different key. That is not the case – it is totally random which key will lock a given door.

I bought this Windsport on 7/3/08 and I wish I had my old '03 Coachmen back! I will tell everyone to run as fast as possible from any FourWinds product!

My "cheap" Coachmen Mirada never had minor problmes that had to be fixed by the dealer after delivery. I have only been able to use the Windsport one weekend so far because it has been at the dealer with a list of 10 - 12 things that were problems. It rattles like a 10 year old unit. I am still waiting to get it back. Maybe I will change my mind once I am able to use it some more. The 2 key thing really makes me mad - some may think it is a minor point, but they have a single key to open their storage areas.

That sounds odd.... Did you actually speak to them? If not, I would call. They have always been helpful to me.

i have had our windsport since febuary and haven't had too many problems. all the locks are the same , but they were packed with salt water spray from when it was delivered from indiana. i haven't gone back to the dealer for anything. i have gone directly to four winds and they have been pretty good, but i have had to go to upper people to get any action. other then a couple of small water leaks, i guess my problems have been minimal.

I talked to Mark Quinn at Four Winds. I called early in the day and he told me he would get back to me the same day. I never heard from him again until I called a week later and had to leave a message. He did call back later and said it was standard production policy and they would not pay to have the locks changed out.

I just got a little bit of good news today. Mark Quinn called and said he is working on getting a complete set of matching keyed cylinders for my locks. Just waiting to hear they will swap out the locks.
