Smile Best aftermarket head deck replacement tips

I have a 2015 Vegas that had the shittiest stock head deck installed when I purchased it (well this is in my opinion). Being a pilot myself, I love Garmin. The only company with a Garmin interface from my research is Kenwood. I bought the DNX 891HD last year and its not bad. I had to buy a few hundred bucks worth of adapters to hook up the aftermarket Kenwood to the coach's camera system but it works fairly well.

Just wondering if there is anything else out there that is top of the line more so than this Kenwood. I paid $1,000 for the unit just under a year ago.

Money isn't an object as long as it does a great job with extra features and what not. Opinions are much appreciated.

...It took me a few minutes to figure out you are talking about the in-dash radio. I know many RV friends who went with one of the Pioneer AVIC radios. A lot of the time I will read customer reviews on the Crutchfield website. The Alpine X008U has great reviews...especially for the sound.

Good Luck and Happy Shopping.

Littlevegas,

I share your preference for Garmin GPS products but went with a separate unit, the 760LMT. The RV-specific features make it really nice to use, and the ability to place it and aim it where I can see it is a definite plus. The Axis' console positioning makes it difficult for me to see the monitor without taking my eyes too far off the road.

Being able to carry it in the house and plug it into the computer makes map updates easy.

The stock head-unit is indeed pretty poor, and I'll replace it with a better when needed, but will stick with the external GPS.

Regards,

Randy

External GPS is the way to go for me too.
My Note 4 has a great map app and I love the up to date traffic reports.
Plus, the fact that it is a free app and the updates and traffic are free too...bonus.

FWIW, I replaced my Jensen head unit with a Clarion and have never regretted the decision.

The stock Jensen unit in my 30.1 is fried and is not made anymore. Good! But, I would like to replace the unit with at least a camera monitor so I can utilize the 3 external camera's again. I am looking at the Voyager AOM713, any suggestions? Would love a plug and play unit. Due to the stock locations of speakers in the ceiling and none in the cab, the radio wasn't worth much while driving anyway. We use a droid tablet and hot spot for streaming and a Bose Bluetooth speaker on the dash. I plan to add stereo unit to TV cabinet for listening pleasure while camped. Would like more info on that Clarion choice.
I 2nd the vote for the Garmin 760 LMT. Easy to use, update, program, good traffic updates and split screen for interstate exits. I take it to the car when driving in new locations.
