Brake light is out

It seemed like a simple task to open the lens cover on my burned out brake light bulb on my Class A Thor Challenger. I removed a silver ring with four screws, then I came to a black gasket that I could not get off. I am afraid to force it if that's not how to access the bulb. That looks like what is holding the lens cover in place. Should I force it off with a chisel or screwdriver??? There is no other access from the cabinet in front of it.

Hi Nancy! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Sorry I can't help with your problem, not familiar with that model!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Have not ever had ours off. I do not believe that it can be reached from the inside. That would only leave one way, carefully pry it from that gasket. Remember, that gasket most likely keeps water from entering the wall.

What is the Model and Year?

The newer THOR's use LED rear tail lights, and are not owner serviceable.

I would call THOR and order a couple of the gaskets. If they have it as a part number, you have your answer. In any respect, if there is a gasket there, I would not try to pry it off without a replacement handy. At least some rubber gasket material to craft a new one with.

Sealed tail light units

You will need a new tail light unit. You can obtain at a truck stop or on line. See superbrightleds.com. The black ring you see is a grommet that holds the light unit. It must be pulled out. It you are concerned you can have a mechanic do the pulling and change out, but it is pretty tough. I am assuming you have the round units which are very common on the Thor units. I had non-leds on my Palazzo and changed out all for the LEDs from superbright which have much more light output.
