My CCC calculation seems to be off. The sticker in the closet states my MH has a CCC of 1,583 lbs, but according to method of calculation on the sticker I come up with a much different amount:

GVWR 20,500 lbs
UVW -17,937 lbs
Water (65x8.33) -541 lbs
LPG -81 lbs
SCWR (8x154) -1,232 lbs

CCC 709 lbs

Am I doing something wrong?

You should weigh your rig to figure uvw. Then figure your ccc from there. It still wouldnt surprise me if you come out low. They push the limits on these gas chassis.

The SCWR of 8 people is a lot of people, you only need to allow for the actual number of people on board.

As Frankie posted, getting your rig weighed is only way to know exactly what you're dealing with.

Overstating the CCC is a serious issue now with NHTSA, since they have identified overloading as the main cause of tires rupturing and causing accidents. I suggest you have RVSEF weigh the four corners to determine if you are at risk of overloading your axles. Youc an find their schedule on their website, http://www.rvsafety.org/index.htm

If you are overloaded... 709 lbs is not much weight... you may want to call your lawyer, since I would not want to haul my family around in that situation.

If I calculate the actual weight of my family then my CCC works out to be 1,500lbs.

Has anyone else weighed their Hurricane 34B (or similar unit)?

While the SCWR is not included in your overall CCC, having 1100 lbs of people and pets scattered about your RV while driving down the highway will impact the overall capacity on your tires and axles. When you weigh your coach, have the occupants and pets in their usual positions in the motorhome while you are weighing it. This will give you the true impact of weight on each axle.
