Challenger 37YT Holding Tanks

Has anyone that has this Challenger 37YTmodel or similar with the two Gray Holding tanks done any work to combine the two gray tanks this model has so you have all available gallons regardless of the source of the gray water.

I'm not talking about combining gray and black, this unit has three tanks, 2 gray and 1 black so I would not touch the black, just combine the grays.

I'm thinking a 2" PVC pipe, drill holes in the sides of the tanks high up on them and when water from one (that fills faster than the other) reaches the pipe the water will flow to the other tank. Obviously I would need some fittings to connect the pvc etc...even a rubber radiator type hose could work with the right fittings to attach it. The level sensors would still show the level in each and I would have the holding space of both tanks

I have not looked to see how accessible the tanks are to attempt this so if someone else has please share your experience.

Do both tanks drain by separate dump valves or one? If only one, wouldn't they already be combined?

Connecting the two tanks as you describe should work, but do both tanks tie into one vent stack? If so, you probably only need the one cross connection you describe. The only thought is you might have to also bridge the tanks with a small vent line to allow air to be displaced as the liquid flows from one to the other.

I'm not familiar with your particular model but I do know on my Montana, there is no way I would ever attempt that. Because, my two gray tanks are on different levels. That means all the gray water would drain into one tank until it backs up into the second. Knowing as I do, how my tanks are constructed and supported, I say you'll be begging one of them to burst and trust me, you don't want to go there.

But, that said, if all three of your tanks are plumbed into a single drain, simply buy a valve to connect where you normally connect your slinky, make sure it's closed and open the two gray tank drain valves.

Here's what I did, put in a 3" valve before the gray and galley tanks with a cap on the end ( of course).
I can open both calves to equally distribute. See below.

I have a 2014 Miramar 34.1 and have mid and rear black and gray tanks. I normally have to tun two sewer hoses connected to a Y and then in the sewer pipe. I recently put a macerator in the rear bay and the 1 inch discharge hose is routed out the back of the bay, down the frame and into the back of the mid dump bay. From there, I take my 1inch hose and attach it to my 3” Y (with a 3/4” garden hose adapter). Then attach my 3” sewer host to the output of the Y and to the sewer hookup.

I plan to add the second macerator to the mid bay and just leave it connected and capped off all the time.

BTW: The macerator has a gray water bypass so I leave the gray water valve open until I get ready to dump.
