Challenger questions

I am thinking about embarking on 2 new milestones the day after christmas. The 1st is cold weather camping in Table Rock state park in SC. The temps look to be in the low 30's at night and mid 50's during the day.I have a 2014 Challenger KT and was looking for some input. The 2nd is towing my 2001 jeep grand cherokee for the 1st time. I was wondering about towing at night and the battery draw if I leave the running lights on.My towing set up is a blue ox with RV2 brake.I added a light bulb in each tail light and am wired to the 7 pin plug on the RV. All input would be appreciated. This is our 1st year RVing and we love it.

Hello...enjoy your trip.

30s isn't cold really. The coldest ive had my coach in is -15. Burr.

When camping....even at an RV park.....fill your on board water tank and roll up the hose if temps are below freezing. Draw the water from the tank using the pump same a boon docking. Refill as needed. This way the hose doesn't freeze.

Just use your LPG furnace to keep comfortable. I do recommend double checking the batteries in your smoke and CO2 detectors. Me personally I add a couple extra battery powered smoke / CO2 detectors just for safety. I'm probably over killing it but CO2 always is a concern with LPG heat.

As far as towing there is no reason to use the running lights on your jeep. This will kill the battery....fast. Same as leaving your lights on accidently. If you have wired a separate bulb into the tail light assembly that separate stop / tail / running light should be completely isolated from the jeep's electrical system and plug into the tail light connecter of your coach. That circuit will be powered by the coach independent of the jeep.

If this isn't your set up......buy a set of magnetic stop / tail / running lights......LEDs are under 50 a set....or buy a rechargeable set of cordless lights....150ish a set.

Have fun!!! Jim
