Good day to all,

I am a newbie to the Thor Forums so I think I am in the right location to ask this question.
I have recently purchased a 2003 Hurricane 32Q Class A motor home. We plan on storing our motor home during the cold Canadian winter - October to April in a local arena.
As part of the storage agreement I need to remove all the batteries from the motor home. The coach batteries are no problem but how does one remove the chassis battery?
I am only 5'7" and my arms are not long enough to get to the battery by accessing through the lift up hood and I am certainly to wide in the girth to come up from the bottom.

Suggestion would be appreciated.

Can't really help with your question. But if your parked near another RVer maybe they can be bribed to help.
This may be worth a try though , approach the facility about your problem and ask if the rule is to do with fire hazard , or possible damage to the arena floor. If the rule is about floor damage they may allow you to set up a catch tray, for any possible acid leaks.
If it's fire related , then they probably won't budge.

Given that you probably won't have shore power or solar, unless you want to write off your batteries due to discharge and then freezing, they need to come out. As for access, maybe someone from the local basketball team.

Once you find a volunteer taking the battery out from the top works best. I removed my passenger side headlight assembly (4 screws) for clearance. After that the battery was fairly easy to remove and replace.

Thanks Jim. I will pull my headlight assembly and give this a go. I have a little while yet before it goes into storage but I like to figure these things out early....

What an interesting puzzle. My headlight is divided off in two sections. The headlight and the running/turn light. Neither of these units would "pop" out. The screws holding them in place also seem to be for setting the adjustment of the headlight, so I left them be.

While poking around under the hood I did notice that there are four screws holding the plastic grill/bug screen to the front of the cowling. After the application of some wd40 I was able to remove these screws and have complete access to the entire works.

Removed the battery with the greatest of ease.
