The coolant ratio is correct per Cummins requirements. Actually, by increasing the water flow you get the hot coolant from the engine to the front quicker so there is less time for it to lose heat as it moves through the hoses. It also gets back to the engine quicker and is re-heated faster.
Its the same principle as a hot water heating system in a house uses. You have a radiator in the room that gives off the heat from the hot water. If you want it to be warmer, you open the valve and let more hot water flow through the radiator.
So far the insulated curtaisn and the 3500w electric space heater are doing the trick.
