Anyone have this in their rig. Just a fuel personal fact on fuel mileage towing, cost of DEF, etc. last Cummins I had was in 95 Dodge and was not to please pulling 5th tlr. Seriously looking at Thor Tuscany 36 QM. I realize if one can afford a M/H fule cost is secondary to enjoying the ride. Just courious

In 95 Dodge was still, de-tuning the Cummins , so that their transmissions would survive. The basic engine has seen major changes since the 95 mechanical pump 12 valve engine. HP up 50% and torque nearly doubled.
If you haven't road tested a 2013 Dodge P/U , you should take one for a run. But back to your question about cost per mile, I don't know if the engine has been available long enough for any owners to get acurate numbers on that. You may have to settle for info from the non-def engine owners.

I have an Astoria (se sig) with this engine. I'm happy with it. I was a little bugged with the DEF at first, but it's no big deal. My "big trip" last spring, from South Jersey to the Fla Keys & back had me averaging 10.5 mpg. That's running the posted speed limit on I-95, running genset with roof air. Towing my '96 Jeep Cherokee. I topped off the DEF one time with a 2.5 gallon jug I bought at a Flying J. (12.99).
I have since had a few Cummins Engineer friends re-flash my ECM. They dyno'd the engine at 448 hp & 1000 lb/ft. I have yet to drive it any distance to report on the change in mileage.
All in all, I'm happy with the engine in stock form. I had a 340/600 ISB in a previous rig & the ISB-XT has way more power.

Thank you for the info. Looking forward to putting
some miles on it. Regarding towing toad. New engine. A break -in period before towing? Won't pick up MH until next week.

Depending on where you are, your new coach may have 1,000 miles on it (delivery from plant to your dealer) Your new baby really won't be working that hard towing a car.
That being said.....Good luck with you new pride & joy! I look forward to hearing all of your happy tales!

btw. I think we'll have the same coach....just that Thor dropped the Astoria name for 2013. Make sure you go over EVERYTHING in your pdi.
