Fixing my ACE window

Any idea on how to remove the sliding window from my ACE 29.2? When I went to open it the lock mechanism came off. It won't just push back on; I believe I need to remove the window and start it at one end and slide it to the other.

I tried to lift up and pull out the screen to remove it first but it doesn't come off at one end.

I'm hoping I don't have to remove the millions of screws on the inside frame. Even if I do, I don't know if I can get the window pane out.

This is the style of window I have and the lock mechanism.

I have the same problem

RayDK,

Sorry I can't help you, but I have the same problem on my ACE 29.2 on two windows. I hope you have better luck finding answers than I have.

OK. Here is what I finally did. I looked at the lock mechanism and saw the 'filler' in the slot. I thought it might be attached but I pried a corner out and pulled the 'filler' out. It is only rubber 'u' shaped thing. It was easy to put this back on the edge of the glass. Then I took the metal part and started at the bottom at an angle and pushed it in all the way to the top. It was hard to get the very top fully seated but the window worked. My next step is to take a wood mallet and tap the top to see if I can get it all the way seated. Then I might put a dab of silicone on the top and bottom of the metal and glass to hold it in place.

I've been rethinking this some more and if it happens again, I think I will lubricate the slot and the outside of the rubber with soapy water to make it easier to push the metal on. If necessary I will put a dab of silicone at the top, middle, and bottom of the rubber to secure it to the glass. Then another drop or two in the metal slot to hold the metal to the rubber. Let's see that sucker come loose then.

Good luck with yours and let me know if it works for you.

I followed RayDK's suggestion and used silicone. So far, it has worked well. Thanks.

The soapy water is the right approach. I've had to do this twice.
