I believe what you are seeing is not the fault code, but the three flashes are telling you there is a stored fault code. I just post the following on another thread yesterday.
When the generator flashes 3 times it's telling you there is a fault code stored.
If you press the stop button (on the generator ) 3 times within a few seconds and then one more time (for a possible second code) it will put out a flash or flashes, followed by a pause and then a second set of flashes. If there is more than one code stored it will do the same for the second code. What the codes mean can be found in the owner's manual.
