Hello all...so glad I stumbled across this forum. Lot's of great info just for my "ship".

We bought our 1999 Hurricane 33' V10/F33 chassis in early July. It only has 16k miles on it and we are very pleased with the coach so far. We stepped up from a 27 Class C and are glad we did.

The only issue I am struggling with is that the darn dashboard seems to be very weak. I mean it literally bounces up and down at least a 1/2" everytime hit a bump or pothole. Seems to be really bouncy along the front under the windshield.

I read that some of you have put "straps" or "reinforced" the dash. Do you have any pics or can you be more specific about where you placed the reinforcement? I am tempted to install some thick closed cell foam or something under there to take up the space and give it some extra soundness. Any reason why this wouldn't work?

I think that if I am able to stop the dashboard "bounce" it would probably quiet up my ride considerably.

And BTW...what is everyone using to keep that nice shiny look on the outside? Do any of those "washing and waxing" soaps really work or am I still faced with a wipe on/wipe off wax?

Oh... and the Koni FSD's are on order...I will let you know the results.

Hello again and thanks in advance for the advice.

Greg

Welcome Greg.Glad you found us.
I will try and get a pic of mine, just a bad angle.Use a stiff piece of strap metal ,find a clear spot on firewall and self tap screw in.Bend the end to the right angle and fit and attach to bottom of inside dash. I know a few of us would like to hear a report on those new koni's. And I use a wax cleaner combo, I am pretty lazy

Frankie,

Thx for the info. I going to take the dash apart tomorrow and see what I can do. I am also going to try and chase down my squeek. I will probably use a combination of the foam and the bracket. Hopefully the foam will provide a little noise insulation as well.

Greg

Your squeek could be coming from TV if its mounted in cabinets above. They never place enough foam around the box frame.

007,

Thanks for the tip but my TV is mounted in the lower dash on top of the engine cover area. I have already pulled the TV while investigating the source of the squeek and will be insulating that area as well just for "insurance" against further squeeks.

Based on the weight of my TV and how much plastic they used in the overhead cabinets above the dash, the only way I would want a TV up there is if it was an LCD or something light like that.

Greg
