House battery replacement

We think we had a house battery fail on our 2014 Palazzo 33.3. There was a bunch of corrosion and battery acid in the bay. Any ideas what the type of battery Thor uses? It is Sunday and all RV places and interstate battery places are closed - thinking we could find a match at Walmart if we could find out what it is. We pulled the battery out (quite challenging) and there are no brand or technical information on the battery.

I replaced mine and went with an upgraded battery. If you have 12v Group 27 batteries, I strongly suggest trying these Interstate Pro 29M batteries. The RC (reserve capacity) is a lot higher than what Thor uses.

Interstate Batteries | Marine Battery | Pro ECL Series | Find Dealers | Store Locator
Interstate Batteries | Deep-Cycle | RV Batteries | Pro ECL Series

They are just ever so slightly larger than the Group 27, so measure to make sure they will fit.

You should replace them all at the same time.

If you can attach a picture, we can probably tell what you have, even if they are not marked.

I also use Interstate. You should have your battery bank tested to make sure that the remaining batteries are "new enough" to accept a brand new battery in the mix.

Thanks for the posts - we followed your advice and took them all to Interstate to be tested. All checked out good but aged so went ahead and replaced all 4 with the upgraded batteries. So far so good.

There are basically just two types of batteries used in Motor Homes and trailers.

1: GC-2 Pairs.. Such as the Interstate U-2200.. These are always pairs because they are six volt when they are NOT in the RV but when they are properly combined they form a single 12 volt battery (roughly a 4D) Thre are several advantages to the GC-2 pair over the 4D.. The biggest is when you install two of them you get a whole lot of 12 volt and when you install the 4D.. A whole lot of hernia (Not really but they are only half the weight) another is the cost they cost less.

The other type is the 12 volt MARINE/deep cycle.. these are really starting batteries and really should be avoided for house use.
