Brian,
I don't have any answers to your questions, but we just purchased an 05 Mandalay 40E. We will pick it up on the 21st of this month. We spent 15 months looking at MHs and found a dealer that we like and trust. We had been looking at Monaco and most seem to be a good product. When we say the Mandalay, Peg loved the interior colors, decor, and layout. It has everything that I thought I needed, so we bought it. This is our first MH. Again, I didn't answer your questions. Since no one else has responded, I hated to see your post orphaned.
John

Ditto to this. We are in the process of purchasing a Mandalay Presidio 42A and also know nothing about Four Winds coaches. Any feed back would be appreciated.

We did end up buying a 2009 Four Winds Mandalay Presidio 42A so thank you to those who sent replies to my first request for some info. We absolutely love the coach but are experiencing major difficulties with the slides. The dealership has been amazing and are bending over backwards to help us but we are very discouraged at present. Has anyone else ever had difficulty with the slides on one of these units?

We have a 2008 Mandalay 43A, and have had some minor issues, but all were resolved by a trip to factory service, which put things in the condition they should have been in in the first place! If you bought your coach new, or it's otherwise still under warranty, you may wish to consider this, if a trip to Elkhart isn't out of the question. If that's too far, they may be able to steer you to someone closer.
Definitely join the Mandalay Yahoo group at MandalayRV : Mandalay Group RV Motorhomes . They can be a huge help.
Can you describe your slide problems in more detail?

Thanks for the suggestion re: Elkhart. Not a possibility at present but Lazy Days in Florida (where we bought the unit) have contacted them and they are doing their best to correct the problem. Seems that the problem is that the hydraulic pumps on the passenger side are working in opposing directions. They seem to think that metal shavings have got into the hydraulic system. Hopefully they can fix it!

OK, haven't experienced anything like that, but the good news is that it would involve components common to many RV's, not just Mandalay. I'm guessing your hydraulics are either by HWH or Equalizer, with Lippert a less-likely possibility. Lazy Days should know those systems well.
I believe there's only one hydraulic pump, but many valves, and it sounds like one of those is sticking in the wrong position. I've heard of similar problems being solved by backflushing.
Good luck!

Thanks again for taking the time to reply and for your suggestions. They have stripped the whole system down at present and have completely flushed out the system as you said. We should know if this is all going to make a difference in a couple of days. Keeping our fingers crossed! Thanks again!

My wife and I looked at a lot of motorhomes over the past couple of years. We looked at Thor/Damon products, Tiffin's, Newmar's, Winnebago's and some Monaco products. We narrowed our list down to Winnebago and Thor/Damon. We looked at several Mandalay's and loved them. The floor plans, the interior and exterior colors, the chassis and power plant, etc. were great. While we didn't end up with a Mandalay we did purchase a 2004 Thor/Damon Escaper. It's 40' of pure pleasure. LazyDays is a great place, I am sure that they will take care of your problems.

We did finally get our slide issue resolved Jack and everything is running perfectly now. I cannot speak highly enough of Lazy Days. They did an amazing job and even did the repairs for us within our time constraints, which put some pressure on them. We LOVE our Mandalay and couldn't be happier with it! Good luck with your decision!
